Deadlines

It's getting harder and harder to keep my online commitments. I'm somewhat ready to have the new beds delivered, but it's been almost a month and they've not yet called with a delivery date. Meanwhile, I've had to keep one room I normally store things in c

Day 1 of My House Arrest

Okay, just in case you're wondering I'm not actually on house arrest, I've never taken part in any criminal activity and don't plan to. I am actually having eye surgery soon, and I am about 90% blind so I'll be at home until the surgery (hopefully in thre

Finally Getting it Done

Just under 2 months ago I wrote about a dilemma I was having in my life. I asked for your opinions about getting eye surgery, or saving that money for a down payment on a house.  I have finally made my decision.  I will be having eye surgery in

My Baseline Mammogram and the Ensuing Nightmare

Apparently, the PersonaPaper Universe really wants me to write about my breast.  I had written a response article last month about how my emotions reacted differently to two different incidents where there were lumps in my #breast (Life Is Calling), b

Life Is Calling

A couple of weeks ago, &CoralLevang wrote of the moment of #worry that comes during that time when you don't know what the #doctor has to say ( Facing Another Diagnosis? ). I read it with a slight pang of familiarity.   When I was 26 years

What You Don't Want to Hear in a Neurosurgeon's Waiting Room

But you do hope your driver hears it. And when I heard it I was glad it wasn't during my first visit after surgery or the last one before it.   When we walked into the waiting room for what I hoped would be the appointment that would pronounce me OK

I'm Tired, But Free

It's been a long day away from home base today – a whole eight hours. I got my X-ray first. Then we went to San Luis Obispo for lunch. While we were waiting for the best prices to kick in, I walked around the parking lot and the street behind the res

Dentistry Has Come a Long Way

Since I’ve spent a good part of the past few years sitting in dentist chairs, I’ve had lots of time to think about this. I’ve been visiting dentists for over fifty years now, and I can tell you that dentistry isn’t what it used to b

Who is That Man With a Towel on His Head and What are They Doing To Him?

When my Dad was still alive, I took him to #Atlanta to for an outpatient eye surgery. As they were getting ready to release him, the nurse got blood all over his clothes taking out his IV, so she gave him a pair of scrubs to wear home. Once they had him re

Post Neurosurgery Day 5

Recovering from #surgery is a slow process that fools you. When I came home Saturday, I felt better than I expected. I think the drugs were still pretty active in my system. My big plans to read a lot and write a lot aren't working out quite as anticipated
