What's in a Name? Sometimes a Surprise or Two

Well it never ceases to amaze me... We all have our little gifts. One of mine was spelling. So I tend to feel a twinge whenever I read something written by an obviously educated person that features bad spelling. For instance, I once worked for an electri

Three-Year-Old Noah the Problem-Solver

My grandson Noah is three. He has a type of autism that isn't immediately obvious. Certainly it isn't obvious with regard to his intelligence. Well, he's always been the best of kids. Very expressive and lovable. A hard worker and willing to assist. A chi

Sweat Your Body, Sweat Your Brain and Have Fun Writing

Have you ever undertaken a work that, when you finished it, it brought you great satisfaction? I mean really great satisfaction? Perhaps you planted a garden, crocheted a quilt, built an outbuilding, crafted a work of art, bred an orchid... Well these work

You English Experts: How Bad Is Your English, Sometimes?

Actually, I am quite adept in using my native tongue. No, I am not a stickler for rules, especially when rules seem (frankly) stupid. For instance, I ignore the rules when it comes to silent "h" and the use of 'a' or 'an'. Even so, there are times when I

The Feature I Hate on Web Pages

Years ago, I used to make my own web pages. But if one wishes to keep up with the times, it behooves him to seek the help of an expert. So I've pretty much abandoned the idea of making my own "from scratch" webpages. There is a problem. You know the adage

Donations from Benefactors: How Much Does It Amount To, Really?

A rich man was reputed by a university to have donated something over a million dollars to build a branch facility to help kids. This was so appreciated they named the building after him. And here's the thing. I do not mention the guy's name, because it is

What Expressions Irritate You?

We all have our Opinions. Our ideas. Our attitudes. Our rants. One of my issues is the use of the language to mislead the public. But the issue I raise here is the use of words to imply excellence, superiority, desirability. What words? Hand-crafted. Hand-di

Seeing the Humor in the Illegal Modification of Signs

Most illegal activity is repugnant to the average person - particularly if it involves serious violation. But some illegal actions can make us snicker, if we're honest. The following are some sign changes I've seen that hit my funny bone hard! Can you add

A Letter to Rootsweb Concerning Nelson County, Virginia History

There are few pursuits that generate more enthusiasm or involve greater detective work than the quest for the family history. Every manner of hint or clue, ever report or document, every search technique conceivable, must be employed. One modern online too

Have You Ever Heard the Name DEMING JARVES?

When I was a youngster, my family didn't have a lot of money, but my father insisted (and she loved it) that my mother not work to bring in additional income. Rather, she would maintain the home and engage in a host of other activities, including shopping.

If you used to write at Persona Paper and have left, do you feel the occasional urge to stop back and see what gives now? Why not pen a piece while you're here? It's not all that hard to do. The articles don't have to be of novel length... Persona Paper presents interesting possibilities...

Good day to you

I agree. I almost feel like the last man standing. I will begin fresh at HubPages and just a little bit at myLot. Meantime I will be available via email and will be reading more of your articles at Querky Science and Decoded Science. Maybe one day a new site will exist that pays and that provides some level of good writers. myLot is not a serious writing site but I find it comforting to be able to stay in contact with some former writers of Bubblews. I will never stop writing. It's always been my nature.

There should be some new type of format I agree. And if things keep going like they are I am not very encouraged I have to admit. I am glad you have always been supportive of me Vincent. You led me out of Yahoo! C N and into the land of bubbles. Things were going well for a while until the big bad Panda 4.0 algorythm. As of October 1, 2015 Google unrolled the latest update of Panda to version 4.2 and that was half a year ago.http://searchengineland.com/google-panda-4-2-is-still-rolling-out-232095

I have got a Hubpage account, so I guess I'd better get busy using that! I keep an eye on your 'Quirky Science' pages.
