Our Philosophy
Writing has been an incredible benefit that humans have been able to enjoy for centuries. This is a very important ability that separates us from the rest of the animal kingdom. With the revolution of the internet, we want to offer a platform that enables writers the tools they need to be successful in writing online.
The revolution of the internet has spurred a rather interesting economy model. It seems that a lot of internet sites offers free services for people to upload and share their content. However, this does come at a price. You need to pay for people to create and maintain the system, the hardware to host it and the support to maintain and manage it. The next obvious question is where do companies get funding to pay for this infrastructure while still offering their service for free. The current answer is advertising.
Admittedly advertising is not the only method of paying for this infrastructure but it is one of the most popular. Why? Because it enables users to use the service without needing to pay any money out of their pocket.
Our site wants to set itself apart as unique because we want to empower our users to write and at the same time, compensate them for their time and effort. Facebook runs on this model and is currently worth over $100 billion (as of April 2014). Google runs on the same model and is worth over $300 billion. (as of April 2014) That is alot of money that both of these companies get primarily through advertising. They are just two examples of a large number of companies.
We want to start a company that can offer a similar system, but share that revenue with its users. After all, the members of a community is what makes it valuable. We want to give some of that value back.
