Introduction for vampiratekitsune

Hello everyone! I just heard about this site today and decided to look it over. It's refreshingly transparent, not at all like another site that will remain nameless though probably well-known by many who have fled. I'm a lawyer, lexicographer, legal historian, editor, and writer. *whew* It's quite a bother getting all of that into one breath! And rather embarrassing, too. That list makes me sound like some kind of tall poppy, but I'm really a rather ordinary person. I don't work 20 hours a day juggling all those jobs. They overlap and combine quite tidily. Luckily for me. emoticon  When I'm running from the law, I cosplay! I love being able to get away and be someone else for a day or a long weekend. Several someone elses usually. I've been known to bring as many as eight costumes for a three-day convention. (Yeah, waaaaay too many! lol) I play both male and female characters from 15 to 80, across a spectrum of anime, manga, and also Steampunk. Anime conventions are also a great place to indulge my love of Asian foods and share it with others. I love Vietnamese and Thai soups with glass noodles, Japanese curries, Chinese barbecue, pretty much everything. Except most seafood. I've just never had a taste for it, no matter how it's prepared or in what cuisine. I envy people who enjoy it. I hope to contribute some interesting articles to the community and look forward to reading many more!

Welcome to Persona Paper! My oldest daughter is also keen on cosplay, and has gotten her younger sisters involved as well. The teenagers here sometimes go to school or walk around in the community in character. Some of the favourites so far have been characters from Hetalia and Homestuck.

I've never heard the expression "tall poppy" before now. What's the origin?
