Just a Face in the Crowd

Does anyone else have trouble coming up with topics worthy of writing about? I don't mean earth-shaking or society-changing topics. I mean simple, down-to-earth stuff.

Maybe there's something odd about me as a wanna-be writer. I honestly don't feel that anyone wants to read about everything I do, every bite I eat, and every random thought I have. To top it off, I use the word "I" too often.

How does one convince oneself that her every move is fascinating.

Maybe my misgivings have to do with the fact that for most of my life I've been on the periphery. I was never the popular kid in school, although I now know that I wasn't as invisible as I thought. I was never the smartest, fastest, brightest, or best at anything, nor was I the prettiest or most talented in any way.

Basically, I've always been just a face in the crowd..

The most interesting posts to me are about every day life. I mostly like to read about family anecdotes and that is mostly what I write. Sometimes the daily life story provokes some thought, or has a helpful bit of information. If an interesting thought pops into your mind, it may be interesting to others. I don't find something to say everyday and I don't think that it's necessary.

Simplicity is beauty dear. Just be yourself and every one will love you. No need to be noticed by all, but at least noticed ny people who are true to you. Have a good day :)

I think you will find that most people were never the best, smartest, tallest, prettiest etc...and that most people feel they are just another face in the crowd....the trick is to stop worrying what other people think...good luck

&CSMcClellan I never intended to convince myself of anything. It was more that I often marvel about some (very few) people's narcissism.

paigea I sometimes find them interesting too.

SheenaDJ I really don't care to be noticed by all, but sometimes I do feel invisible.

Ellis Most aren't, but some act like they think they are.

Mysgeek Have you ever considered that maybe it is just bluff to cover up their own insecurities?

Mysgeek wrote on July 29, 2014, 7:22 PM

Ellis Yes, it probably is. I just sometimes get a little irritated by it when I'm in a certain mood.

Mysgeek I know exactly what you mean. I always have a hard time coming up with things to write. So I always find myself responding more than writing.

Well, I mostly post about my photographs, things we've made and write short stories. I don't do too many personal posts.

When I can concentrate, I find a lot of topics online. I have to take a lot of breaks, though, on days when I run across a lot of topics that make me angry.

If you were the person on the periphery, you probably saw a lot of interesting things that other folks missed because they were too close to the situation. I'm with &CSMcClellan : you don't need to convince yourself that everyone wants to read about the minutiae of your daily life. It may be what some others are writing about, but I think most people have a very limited tolerance for that sort of content.

This happens to the best of us. Just yesterday, I picked out photos to be used for future posts. That helped. Sometimes, i use writing prompts. I also write about my daily life but I make sure that readers get something in the end. Not sure what that something is though. LOL!
