Introduction for Torbie

Right now, I am scraping by while I earn my M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. I have an at-home job teaching English to some folks in South Korea and I also do an outreach job that is totally unrelated to my field of study, but I'm hoping to have a more stable teaching job once I finish my studies (and also travel in the process). I love understanding how differently (and similar) life outside of the United States is. Even though the U.S. is a big country, I feel that this world is too big to just be fixated on this land alone.

I'm probably one of the least pickiest eaters you'll ever encounter, and I'll try eat everything at least once (unless I know that it'll make me sick or kill me). I certainly prefer flavorful, spicy, and bitter foods to those that are sweet or bland. Some of my favorite foods to eat are manicotti, palak paneer, and agedashi tofu. I suppose my like of various foods ties into how I enjoy learning about and experiencing other cultures. Oh, and the food where I live tends to be bland, so I definitely jump on any opportunity to eat some different.

On a different note, I've been trying to get back into the habit of drawing and doing other artwork again. Despite how much I enjoy creating artwork, for the longest time, I had convinced myself that I wasn't any good, but I'm realizing how foolish that was, especially considering the amount of job this hobby brings to me. I certainly hope for this hobby to become more habitual sometime soon!

Eating everything is a good quality specially if you plan to travel or shift your residence.

Greetings from a neighbour to the north (and west!) I knew a lot of people who were training to teach TESOL and FSL when I was in university. Some days I regret that I hadn't gone into that field, back when I had the chance...
