Can religion save us?

What is the truth about religion? Can religion save us? Can religion change us?

Yesterday, we watched a video from an atheist saying that, "Religion cannot reform mankind because religion is just a form of slavery".

Does that thing tells us the truth?

No. Because religion is not like that. Religion can reform us and religion is something that would lead us to righteousness. Say for example, religion is like the sign boards on the streets. It can lead us to where we are going but those sign boards cannot let us be in the place we are supposed to go. Rather, it is still on the driver's decision if he would follow those sign boards or not.

well, religion is just like that. It is not something that can guarantee us to be saved rather, it is just something that would lead us there.

For salvation is still within ourselves and our personal relationship with God, the God of Heavens and the Earth.

While I do not doubt the sincerity of many people who have religious beliefs, I do not believe that it is essential to be religious in order to do good in the world or to act with morality towards one fellow humans. I would also say that religion has been, and continues to be, a destructive force in whose name countless evil deeds have been done. I honestly belief that a world without religion would be better and safer than what we have now.

Religion divides but spirituality will bind us. The bloodshed that we see in the world today is more on account of religion.

It depends on how you follow your religion, There are some who will use it for their own benefit by troubling others.

Although I may be a loyal Roman Catholic, I tend to agree with indexer . Religious leaders have used religion as a tool and has blinded a lot of believers into doing evil deeds. And I'm not referring to Muslims, as they have some teachings that are way better than our church has taught us. I know this because I lived in a Muslim country for the first 12 years of my life. There are other sects that require their "followers" to live a life of servitude to the "heads".

As Ziggy Marley would say, "Love is my Religion". The world would have been a safer place if we loved one another. It's not a must-have. I see religion as only a guide, but not as our salvation.

Young lady, you seem nice and friendly and all that so I'll share with you. Those religious leaders, they promise you heaven, in order to steal your world. Now, I used to think I was an atheist but I was just living a lie. The false paradigms offered to you by the money-grubbers is flat, tasteless, shallow, ineffective and weak compared to the journey and the struggle to find the True Godhead.

And from here, I'll leave it at that, for you yourself to maybe - should you ever need to - to call out to the True Gods and Goddesses for yourself.

I'm an atheist but I can't imagine why another atheist would make a video criticizing religion. Many of my loved ones belong to various religions. They are thoughtful, intelligent people for the most part. Some are not the most honest people but that doesn't lead me to blame their religion.

The quote is basically right. It often limits individuals to enjoying their life to full capacity because they are worried if they do the wrong thing that they might go to hell.
Organized religion has done more to suppress mankind, especially womankind than anything else that I can think of. Most of the crimes against females can go back to a person's religious upbringing. And organized religion is chiefly used to control people.

Religion can not save us , only a personal relationship with Jesus Christ can save us (true repentance and turning to Him as our Lord and Savior of our life).
