Weaning time for my daughter.

I was advised by my doctor to breastfeed my daughter exclusively for six months without giving her nothing else even water. It seemed like moving a mountain to achieve this bearing in mind that this is the first child and i have lots of other activities at hand.

But she is already six months and today and i had to give her her first cereal feed and to my surprise she ate like she has been doing it for a life time.

I hear that some of my friends have a rough time when they start to wean their babies but thanks God mine just seems to love food.

As from tomorrow i will give her some porridge and fruits as advised by my doctor, i hope she has a healthy life and great growth as she has always done.

The best part was to see her waiting for that spoon even before i got the next scope. Am certainly a happy mom.

So, is it different there? We breastfeed/formula feed for the first year and introduce solids around 6 months, but they never actually stop nursing. The first year of a childs nutrition should come from mothers milk or formula.

we can give formula or fortified cereals and solid food after six months according to the doctors advice

It is a great help when they can take a bit of solid food, like cereal and fruit. It makes them happy and they enjoy trying new things. My son had reflux so bad that he didn't stop spitting up half of everything he got from his bottle until he was on an almost completely solid diet. I was very happy when he was old enough for that.

You are lucky on that. My daughter gave me one hell of a lifetime when I started her on solids. It was not until around eight months when she started feeding properly.

Congratulations for having such a cooperative baby and for being able to breastfeed exclusively for 6 months. I breastfed my children, too. The eldest for a year and the youngest for three years.
