Always Moving

Even if you stand still you are always moving, because time never stops. You may be perfectly motionless, but you can't stop the clock from ticking and time from moving forward. Even if you start walking backwards, time will do the opposite motion.

One of humanity's biggest mysteries is time. We all have the inner sense that hours go by and we are all ruled by schedules, but what exactly defines time?

There is this abstract notion of a link between space and time and there are scientific explanations regarding phases unraveling, starting with Isaac Newton, one of the first looking at the matter in a scientific perspective, and reaching its climax with Einstein.

Even though Physics has proved that time can be bent and molded, physical proof is not easy to obtain. We can mess with objects, but we can't easily mess with something so abstract as time.

In theory, there are many things we could do if we could master time. For example, time travel. Wouldn't it be awesome if one day we could travel in time the same way we travel in space?

The only thing we know for sure, right now, is that time moves forward, even if we stand still. Humans are forever travelers.

How true and how I wish we at times had the ability to make time slowdown or move fast! That can only happen in dreams.

+VASS Nice to see you here.

So true, time is the fourth dimension. I would add that even if you stay completely still, you have not stopped moving, because the Earth moves and whole universe moves. So you will never be in the same place and time you are now. Fascinating, isn't?

So true. And I liked your last line, "Humans are forever travelers." Had never thought of that before! :)

No need to tag me on my own article emoticon  It is fascinating and I have been seeing documentaries about time. Sometimes time is too abstract for me to understand. The notion that it is something not palpable but that defines our lives. It's mind blowing.

time and tide they say
wait for no one
and you know the most painful part of it all
you can't turn back the hands of time
forever in motion
from cradle to the grave!!!!

Perhaps if we mastered time travel no good would come from it because of man's current condition.

To travel in time is my dream, there are so many things I would like to check in person.

I would love to be able to travel back in time. That would be a whole new aspect of genealogy. The stories that you could collect! :)

Time travel sounds like an eerily powerful tool. I would be happy just to teleport in the present :)
