Scotland Wants to Become a Separate Nation

If you are reading International News, specifically at bbc.com, there in the news is the oncoming Referendum whether Scotland be an independent state from the United Kingdom. The referendum will be held in September 18, 2014. Maybe this current events in UK have no effect on us, but to those living in that country, this has a major impact. The future of the UK is at stake. If the Yes Vote wins, what remains with the United Kingdom will be England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Personally, I don't want to see UK disintegrates and becomes separate nations. I want it just maintain the status quo. This will be a painful separation if the vote for Independence wins. It remains to be seen what will be the outcome of the vote. The citizens of Scotland will have the final say whether they want an independent state or remain united with the rest of UK.

I cant wait to see the first Scottish Song entry in Eurovision. I wonder if they will give their 12 points to UK or to Ireland, It would be intriguing.

Some people in Scotland want to become an independent country, then there are those of us that are sensible.

I don't think they've thought through the economic implications of independence. Sure, you get a lot of nice perks, but you're going to lose the tax infrastructure that was paying for everything. I agree with melody23 that it's not a sensible idea.

I'm not convinced that it is correct to say that "Scotland wants" independence. A proportion of Scottish people want it, but others do not. At the moment, the "Nos" are more numerous than the "Yesses". I am only sorry that the vote was limited to people who actually live in Scotland - I am Scottish by birth but don't get a vote!
