Popular Category

Have you notice the categories on PersonaPaper? The most used category for us all has to be the Personal category! I mean, what else can we use when we are babbling about what going on in our life or whatever pops into our head?

There are many new sites that have the same format of 300 to 500 characters, likes, comments, and dislikes, and all have one commonly heavy used category: personal! These sites provide us a playground to post short blurbs; which are more like writing diary.

When this new idea was introduce over the internet, I had a hard time reading so much personal stuffs that were published, from “picking up dog poop”, to “I am on my period so I can’t take a bath”, etc.

I was used to write content for Yahoo Voice, Triond, HubPages, Helium, Bukisa where my articles had to offer some sort of information, tips or usefulness.

It took me a while to get use to the idea, and begin to like personal blurbs. Why? Because they are more unique! I was getting tired with “How To, Five Ways To, 10 Tips” since they all are very much rehashing the same topic with different wordings.

Personal Category has to be one of my favorites so far.

I am the same, after several years of writing on helium and others it is quite nice to be able to write some personal stuff

I use these blog networking sites as an online diary so it's not that hard to write under the personal category.

I write under Personal because there is no "ravings of a lunatic" category. My other favorite is Random. But informational writing has its place, it's just annoying if it is all you do. PP lets you be free, and that's a good thing.

It is so true, we write as if we are talking to friend :)

It is a good thing, indeed to be able to share a bit of yourself with people you're interact with!

No it is not..It always keeps you in the mood to write, and it is so much easier to whip up 500 characters rather than 300-500 words.

Me too melody23 ..I have read somewhere that they call what we wrote on those sites are format writing, and in a way I think it's fitting

I write under the 'Personal' category as well but I'd like to branch out and write in other categories.

So far I think I have Health and Animal categories! It is a fun thing to branch out!

I especially like to hear personal stories from people who live in other countries. It's cool to read about the different types of food they eat or the different activities they do that aren't as familiar to people in my area.

I have to admit, I've always enjoyed the personal posts more. Plus I find that I learn a lot of tips just from reading how people go about their day to day lives. Often, they have a different way of doing things I might never have thought to try otherwise. So personal posts are what I typically head for first as they give me the most enjoyment. Also, I'm with you -- typically the others have been "done to death" and I can find that information anywhere from millions of different sources online.

I like personal post too as long as it is not "too gross or too personal" like the one I've mentioned :-). Like you, I learn new things from different cultures and different ways people handling things too.

I am now leaning hard toward personal posts too. I like it if the writer put a bit of his/her own experience in it and tell us how he/she does it. It's much more real. I see a bunch of the "how-to" posts here on PP and after reading the snippet, I tend to avoid it because like you, I can find a better, more reliable and trustworthy source else where! Thanks momathome !

IcyBC If you ever see any of my "how tos" they are all personal posts, lol. I ONLY write from my own personal experience and so they are not the typical "how to" posts.

That's good to know, momathome ! Now I won't avoid yours, hehe...

People WANT personal, lol :) Though I tend to drop some tips in there, most of my stuff is personal ;) We are all human and want to know MORE ;) YAY!

We REALLY NEED a "ravings of a lunatic" category! BEST IDEA EVAR! EVVVARRR!!1

I'm oftentimes just writing what my Guides and guardians ask me to. Sometimes, I don't even understand why I am saying what I am. But, it turns out to be worthwhile later. :)
