The way forward is sometimes the way back

If you've ever seen the movie Labyrinth, you may remember the old man in the maze who gives Sarah and Hoggle some sage advice "the way forward is sometimes the way back". Although the old man's hat (who appears to be a bird) scoffs at this advice, it turns out to be just what Sarah needs to find her way to the center of the Labyrinth and save her baby brother from the Goblin King.
In any case, I think it's the right advice for me today. I was away all day and so much has piled up behind me while I was gone. One look at all the new posts and comments, and I felt inadequate to the task. I tried to start reading down from the newest, but then got lost and then something got added so I had to go to the top again and in the meantime, I wasn't writing.
So, I decided the way forward is the way back. First, I am going to go to the bottom of the list, to the first post that I have not read and work my way up instead of working my way down. I have to go back to where I left off. And then, all those thoughts in my head that have been piling up on top of one another - going back to the bottom of the pile and write them out from there.
Because I am going to go back, and work my way through, I will eventually move forward and be caught up and ready to write more and post more.
And now, I want to watch Labyrinth.

me too :) I should be working on my neverending watch later list on youtube, but Labyrinth sounds much easier and now I'll have that scene stuck in my head till I watch it again. :)

Sounds like a good advice. Good luck catching up.

I'll never be caught up with all the recent activity. I have a part-time job now and when I get home, I'm so tired all I want to do is veg out in front of the computer and do things that require no brains. Needless to say, that does not include writing anything whether it be a post, an article or a comment.
I've never seen the movie Labyrinth. Your advice sounds like a smart course of action but I'll still never get caught up. Groan!

I haven't seen this movie yet, and it sounds very interesting from your writing! Now, I must watch :)
