The Falconer Heartland Tales

Another trip to the Heartland. Darcy Pattison has written 'The Falconer' which is Book two of the Heartland series of stories. This is the story of Winchel Eldras's granddaughter and her power of finding and the search for a very special item. This is also a story of Britt and her special friend TattyMag, a gryfalcon. Darcy Pattison shows rather than tells of the characters journeys through her descriptions of the characters as well as the settings for you can see how things change before your eyes. Darcy also as in the first of the series uses description to tell what is happening in the story as when an invisible character can make him/herself appear in many different ways. As Britt uses a furry, soft wrap and talk with the animals in English. This is also a good book to use in the upper elementary and middle school grades to improve discussion and communication skills. We all have special skills as Britt and Winchel we just have to find them and use them in the right ways. It is a story of good over evil as both characters show us.
