A Portrait of Taz - The Reference Photo

This is a photograph of Taz, my friend Mark's kitty. Taz passed away, and Mark asked if I would paint a portrait of him. I usually do portraits in graphite (pencil) because I can do them quickly, but sometimes I will use other media, like pastel, colored pencil, ink, watercolor, or acrylic paint. I don't use oils because they are too toxic.

I am currently working on the painting, which I started a good while back. I had gotten bogged down for a bit (I will explain in a future post), but I have been able to get moving on it again. I thought it might be interesting for you all to see how it develops, step by step, so I took photographs at various stages and will be making posts about them.

I'm sure it will be nice following along with your efforts. I've lost many cat friends over my considerable years, but I remember most of them including my very first one, Lady.
