You Should Have Seen Their Faces

I am Obviously Old

While I have white hair, I am still strong and also attend circuit training classes each week, where I can do full press ups and shuttle runs, among all the other exercises. You can see an article about fitness for over 70s here. I also do "builder's mate" for my husband if he is doing any maintenance work to our house. This includes carrying and steadying ladders and lifting weights. On Sunday, I helped my daughter lift a lot of stuff to the top of her house. Like me, she has a 3 story house, over 100 years old, which means 4 flights of stairs and I made 8 trips up those stairs carrying stuff by myself, or helping her carry stuff, if it was awkward, including a rocking chair. (Her husband had a bad back.)

Later That Day

I was doing some shopping a few hours later, at a local supermarket. Three men were making heavy weather of pushing a broken down car up the hill in the car park, so I offered to help. I know I could have made a difference (because I have pushed a car in that same car park previously) but if you saw their faces! They were NOT having an old woman help them push a car, so I went into the shop. They must have been galvanised by the offer because by the time I came out (not long) they had removed the car completely from the car park. I had to smile. I was sincere in my offer and would have helped push if they had agreed but I was reasonably certain they wouldn't accept, so was probably being very naughty in offering. LOL

Your stamina makes me look bad. I sometimes have to get my wife to help me put my socks on.

I have difficulty with socks too. Not good flexibility. Getting up quickly is not an option.

That is such a cute picture.

Yes, certainly a lot better than adults pushing a car!

Once I helped push a car. Not a good thing for the back though.

No, better off not helping if you have a bad back
