Friday the 13th, 2019 - when a visitor knocks at the door at 2:30 AM

7 times knocking at the front door at 2:30 AM on the eve of Friday the 13th.

Both myself and my wife woke up suddenly to the sound of rapping at our front door.

As I arose from the bed, I remained quiet and pensive and my wife whispered into my ear, "It's happening again."

This strange knocking at our front door a rap rap raping at the door, has happened at least 7 different times, about one month apart.

So I guess I am facing a sort of unsolved mystery. Who would be knocking and waking us up at such an early hour?

I thought it might be a person being mischievous or perhaps my nephew or possibly my step daughter, or even a next door neighbor. But I looked out the window and didn't see anyone. Several minutes had passed however.

My wife gets upset when this sort of thing happens. I understand how she feels. I was more irritated by being woke up from a sound sleep. But the mystery may never be solved. Someone either really needed us to come to the door, in some sort of emergency situation, or it was a prankster, wanting to annoy us. But, the fact that this occurs around 2 to 3 AM only once every so often a month or more apart, seems like it is happening on some kind of schedule as if the person knocking comes back now and then for reasons unknown and that bothers me more as I speculate it could be someone who needed us for some kind of urgent thing.

Whoever it was, I figure, it's something I will think about off and on, until one day I catch that person. I would have to be up late and I seldom go to bed much later than 12 midnight if not hours sooner.

Hmm, and you don't go down to the door? I am usually the one who goes to the door in our house. Once it was the police telling us to get out for a bomb scare at the pub across the road but that was 40 years ago. Once it was a friend who had crashed his motorbike and walked 2 miles with only one boot on, to get help.
It is worrying at that time of night, especially if you live in a large city, where it could be anyone.
Is it always a Friday? Could it be a neighbour who goes out to get rowdy every so often and forgets which is his house? Could it be squirrels looking for food? I suppose here, I am thinking of a knocker but maybe it was knuckles rapping the door, which couldn't be a squirrel? Do you have any neighbours who work the late shift? Maybe someone orders pizza late at night and they have a similar address to you?
I suppose I would need to satisfy my curiosity but I would look out of the window first to check who was there.

I had a friend who had a man enter her house through a window. Fortunately, not a burglar. A drunk who thought it was HIS house and he'd accidentally locked it.

No specific day of the week, and recently, a few days ago at about 2 AM my wife indicated to me that someone came knocking at our front door but I slept right through it. I need a camera pointed right out the front porch and capture who or what is visiting us. It is advised not to answer the door in most cases as a precaution. If ever this happens again, I will try to get up fast and find out what is going on. Glad AMAZON doesn't deliver after dark. LOL

We had a drunk man trying to drink from our front garden hose, and he constantly fell down, but what alerted us to this fact was that he began to peek through our living room window through the lower edge of our blinds, which don't go down all the way to fully cover the window. I called police but the man left after I yelled out, "Please go away." and he wandered down the street and out of sight.

Yes, a CCTV camera would be a very useful item in these circumstances. There are some that can livestream to your phone, so you would be able to see the doorstep from your phone without getting out of bed.

That would be frightening!

Remind me NOT to move into your neighborhood, ol' Bean.
