School buses with seat belts is a good idea. About time we focused on student rider safety.

I only wish there were a EDUCATION Category. I would put this article right there.

A school bus needs safety belts

I have seen reports online and on television news about overturned school buses and I simply gave it some thought: Why do they make school buses, and for that matter, all public buses without a safety belt or shoulder harness?

I found one article for you to look at.

Tell me what you think in the comments. It makes perfect sense to me, that after people realize that an accident involving a collision of a bus, especially a school bus running off a bridge that the results are devastating.

The article is of course the result of a simple Google search, but it is an article that is relevant to this subject. Below is that article, from PBS

You'd think it would be the case, wouldn't you? Is it due to additional cost being prohibitive? I can't fathom that, but who am I? Or is there a better chance for children in a wreck without seat belts?

Most new buses in this country now have seat belts. It may be that in the USA, drivers are less likely to wear seat belts. I understand they are more likely to rely on airbags to keep them out of danger in a crash. But of course, you don;t have airbags on a bus. I agree, seat belts should be fitted and it should be mandatory to wear them.
