He's a big boy!

AND I FOR one wouldn't like to meet him on a dark night - or even a brightly lit night come to think of it!

This is 'Dippy' the Diplodocus whom I met recently in the Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery in Glasgow. His normal home is the Natural History Museum in London but he is currently on loan from there and is on a tour of the UK. He's in Glasgow for another few weeks before moving on elsewhere.

I was actually in Glasgow for another reason (of which more later) and, although Glasgow is my home town, it's been many years since I last explored the city centre so a wander around the West End (a hive of social activity in the evening) searching for somewhere to eat brought back many memories.

Sometimes it's nice to revisit old haunts and remember good times!

Thankfully, I think he was vegetarian! He was in Belfast not long ago at the Ulster Museum, I think.

Cool. My guess is, this is a small one?

That is a nice dinosaur skeleton. I have seen rarely any other than that which are in the Dallas Museum of Natural History at Fair Park. Here is a YouTube that shows a little bit of what I used to look at when I was a student back in the day. I went to this museum at least once every year at the Fair Park. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1yVttgJODY

I keep saying we should go to see him before he moves on to wherever he goes next. My favourite Glasgow museums are the transport museum (although the old one was better) and the People's Palace

My brother used to live a few doors down from the old transport museum and I have visited it many times. Never been to the new one though, or the People's Palace

After Glasgow he's off to Newcastle

As far as I am aware he is a fully grown specimen

Interesting video. Museums aren't high on my list of 'must see' places. Once a year is about my average too!

The new one is ok I guess. Its got a lot of tech built into it which to me kind of defeats the point and the old street is nowhere near as good as the old street in the old museum was. I had actually never been to the People's Palace until recently but it is definitely one of the better museums in Glasgow
