It's the Medicare Supplement Time of Year Again
My husband is a disabled veteran who is over 65 with a variety of health issues. Today we received a letter from an official organization that looked like it was Medicare. It was actually a variation of their name and a note trying to sell supplemental plans. While we did not contact them, it reminded us to start thinking for 2019.
Frankly, the whole system confuses me. I am under different insurance, which is straightforward. But there are different parts and it's important to know exactly what is covered.
The supplement plan fills in the gaps that would be uncovered or co-pays. Some help to cover other health expenses. I know optical and dental are always challenges, no matter what insurance you have. There are free ones and others that come at a small cost.
All we know is we want to have complete coverage. It seems to be time to contact our insurance agent to find out more. Nobody wants to wind up in a hospital with thousands of dollars in bills - we faced that years ago and it's tough to get through.
