Happy birthday Mrs Kasman!

ACTUALLY IT ISN'T her birthday until the end of the month but, as she often does, she requested her birthday present early because (she said) she really needed it now!

For the sake of a quiet life I usually give in and do as she requests (I know which side my bread's buttered on!) which, of course, leaves me with the problem of what to do for her actual birth day.

Usually I will get her a small token gift and remind her that she has already had her present early at her own request. This arrangement suits both of us.

She gets what she wants when she wants it (no change there then!) and I avoid arm wrestling the cat for the best spot on the couch (he usually wins)!

So what urgently-needed item did Mrs Kasman request early this year?

An expensive dress for her birthday party? No;

That fancy necklace she's had her eye on for a while? No;

Those killer heels she sometimes totters about on? No;

Yet another handbag? No;

That other tattoo she's been threatening to get? No (thank goodness).

Nope, none of these apparently essential female accessories (well, maybe not the tattoo). The birthday present Mrs Kasman requested early on the grounds of urgency was . . .

A filing cabinet!

You can see from the picture here that she lost no time in putting it to good use. Mind you, I must commend her organisational abilities (a hangover from her days as an accountant). Any time we have any kind of query (financial or otherwise) she can lay her hands on the relevant paperwork instantly.

Not a penny falls but that it's fall is noted!

Good you got her what she actually wanted. I need to buy my wife a 4 drawer letter size file cabinet so she can do her organizing. The two drawer one is stuffed to the max with owner's manuals, birthday reminders, and recipe collections along with my own computer printouts. Happy birthday to your wife, and hope you got her a nice birthday cake. :)

I would love to see her expression at that moment.

Two 2-drawer cabinets can be stacked and they might cost less to buy two 2-drawer ones instead of one 4-drawer one. I like the ones made of wood actually, but they are especially more costly.

My filing cabinet was free. A neighbour was throwing one out - it didn't suit the decor! It had 4 working drawers and a key. I took it. It is in daily use. I could do with another one but I might have to buy this one. LOL

I only wish to be so lucky. File cabinets are pretty expensive. But a good one lasts a lifetime. I remember the heavy ones they used back in the day. They make them out of light metal. So light they can easily get a dent. They once sold 2-draer letter sized metal file cabinets in pink, white and other colors. Now it seems the only colors are grey & black. So dismal. I would paint them white if I had a mind to. Wonder why they don't make white file cabinets? Don't t4ell me, they do? Okay maybe they do but I have not seen a white file cabinet, usually they are either grey, black or beige.
