Do You Doodle? If So, Why?

I've got many habits in life. There are some I spend considerable time on. One habit I used to engage in, ever so many years ago, was doodling. I thought I was pretty good at it, so maybe you could call it cock-a-doodling. Sorry for that. I can't resist a pun.

Simply put, I generated a kind of cross between a branch and a vine of simple leaves. And I believe I may even have been doing this in Kindergarten. If not, it was soon after, I feel sure.

I did it for the artistic effect. It was fun and looked pretty impressive to this little kid. Maybe that's why I stopped it when I got older.

Do you doodle? Do you do it as an artistic expression? As a nervous action? To help you think? What? Why do you doodle.

If you don't doodle, again I'd ask, Why? Because you lack imagination, you don't have an artistic bone in your body? Or is it because you are neither nervous nor find it a real aid in helping you think? Let's hope it's not because you DON'T think!

I used to doodle a lot as a child but not as an adult. In fact, I doodled over all my school books and added curls onto tails of letters etc and my parents went to talk to the teacher in case there was something wrong! I think it was just that I was bored. These days, I can find plenty to do with my time, in fact it's finding time to just sit that's the problem!

I could almost wish that was my problem. I have things to do, but after the shortest of times I find I need to sit again.

I've never been one for doodling. I'd rather sit in contemplative thought - either that or I just 'tune out' and go live in my own world for a while emoticon

I've always doodled, although it might be different for me than for other people, because my doodles are sometimes just designs, but sometimes they are actual drawings. I used to draw all the time in class, and I was once punished in third grade, not FOR drawing, but by being FORBIDDEN to draw, for some period of time (it was probably just a day or two, but it felt like forever!
