Starting Out With Affiliate Marketing

Write About What You KNOW!

If you are new to affiliate marketing, start with something you know. It is always easier to build a good site on a subject you're interested in. If you try to work on something "popular" but in which you have no interest, you'll find it becoming a "dreaded task". This applies to affiliate marketing as much as to writing.

Honesty Is The Best Policy

Be honest about who you are partnering with and your visitors will feel better about contributing to your income. If you seem like you are hiding something, your visitors may go directly through the vendor, instead of using your link. Add into the "about us" on your website something on the lines of "links on this site may be affiliate links. If you buy something through these, this site may earn a commission". You may also want to add something like, "this site provides good information on the subject of ... and the costs of running the site are partly offset by affiliate income. Advertisers LIKE affiliates selling their products and are glad to pay the commission." This is true and also provides the transparence that many countries and search engines require.

Make it Easy On Yourself

Look for easy to sell products when you first start out. Don't advertise something no one has ever heard of, it puts pressure on both you and the consumer. Instead, look at what products are currently "hot" in your preferred market and start with those. Once you have established a base, you can move to more challenging sales.

What Do Customers / Clients WANT?

Look for topics on which consumers WANT help and build your website and your affiliate offers to meet those, that is, provide a solution to their problem. You can find a lot of subjects on which people want information by searching online using the word forums and your preferred area in a search engine. For instance, if you type forums weight loss into a search engine box, you will get loads of forums shown with people asking for help on weight loss in different kinds of areas, such as getting a beach body, weight loss after 50 years old, best diet advice, etc.

Try researching ONE affiliate product in your preferred area and add it to your website. Share your webpage on Facebook, Twitter Tsu and any other social media you use. See if you can get a sale!
