Affiliate Marketing - A Possible Income?

Have You Considered Affiliate Marketing?
It can help you make some extra money in your spare time or even a full time income.
What is It?
Affiliate Marketing (AM) means promoting someone else's product or service on line. It's like being a salesperson, without your own product and you are not bound to just one company. With AM you search for products or services that you think other people would find useful, anything from acne cream to snoring exercises or fitness products and then promote them on your own website or blog, with a link to where the reader can buy the item if they choose.
Test It Out
Before joining any particular program, test out the product or service that you'll be promoting, although that is not always possible, but do it as far as you can. Having used it before talking about it allows you to give honest and sincere reviews. Your readers will be able to tell that your recommendations come from actual use and they will trust your reviews more. Many affiliates do not try out the promoted products and just use the sales material provided by the seller. It's quite easy to tell which affiliates do this, when you get several emails from different people all promoting the same product in the same words.
Design For Sales
When you design your site for your affiliate advertising venture, it is vitally important that you understand that you will not get paid unless your visitors click on the links that you post on your page. Many times, informational pages will not get you very many clicks, as most people visiting your site are not looking for a product, so it is best to write an article about a problem people have (for example snoring) and then promote a product or service (on the same page as the article) that can help solve that problem.
Try This Source Of Income
Affiliate marketing done correctly, can help you earn a good income.

So why do some writing sites not use it?

They do to some extent. They allow writers to post links that bring others into the site to write. The person who posted the link often gets a number of coins or some other bonus. PP used to have links on the front page (if you weren't signed in) that had Amazon links and it said, "buy through here to help the site" or something similar. I am talking about adding affiliate links into your own site. For instance, you have read a lot of science fiction books, you could add an amazon affiliate link on your own site so if someone thinks they would like the book, they buy it through your link and you earn a commission.

I can't afford to buy products to test, but I will consider all of this.

VinceSummers If you are using google adsense, you need to consider whether you are allowed to use both on the same page. Sometimes you are, other times not. Often the person providing the product or service will know but to be safe, leave adsense off a page you are going to put an affiliate link on. You have a page on quirky science about callus skin, you could add in the keyword phrase "how to remove corns" (put it in EXACTLY AS SHOWN, but leave out the speech marks) somewhere on the page. For instance, you could add the sentence, "Some people will want to know how to remove corns." under the last paragraph on treating callus skin. Search on Clickbank or Commission junction or JVZoo for something to treat corns and add the link to the phrase "how to treat corns". Try it and see. By the way, the best place I found with a quick search for corn remover or callus remover was Amazon. Several products on there and you can look at the reviews to see if people are happy with their purchase.
There are also spider traps available on Amazon that you could promote on your spider pages.

It all sounds very complicated to me

corallevang Not really. Think of it this way. You talk to a friend on how to find a new job if they have to leave the current one. They think that's very helpful but want something else to try. You happen to have tried a particular method or agency and think it might help your friend, so you recommend it to them. That really all affiliate marketing is - recommending a service or product you think someone else will find useful.
The more complicated bit is finding the keyword to use. I have a good keyword tool and it suggested the use of the "corn removal" phrase for VinceSummers . You don't HAVE to use a keyword phrase, however, you should find yourself earning more commissions if you do.
