Tank of heating Oil for a Birthday Present

Winter Birthday
I have a winter birthday, so does my husband. They are not too far apart. Nowadays we tend to give each other money, then we can buy something big by combining a number of gifts. I tend to save Christmas and birthday gifts towards a new computer. One year, my husband said he didn't want a birthday present from me, as he would just have to return it at my birthday. OK, no problem, but he didn't suggest that the following year! Even if you have to "return it", it's still nice getting the present.
Separate Money
We each of us have a separate pension, so we share various expenses and one time one will buy something for the house, then the next time the other buys it. One year, we needed heating oil, so my husband said he would order and pay for it. Once it was done, he said, "Take that as your birthday present".
Birthday Present
What he meant was that I should take my birthday money out of our joint account, in place of what would have been spent on the heating oil, because it saved transferring money across from one account to the other. Bit I teased him that my birthday present was a tank of heating oil. If we were cold, it would be a very good present, keeping me warm and comfortable.

That does not sound like a very easy present to wrap up and give to your beloved across the breakfast table!

I like practical gifts and heating oil sounds like a very nice practical gift especially in the winter. If I needed oil to stay warm I would really like if someone did that.

all sorted out down pat; that's cool: what a way to say "relationship goals", in today's mantras.

Over 44 years now. Sometimes it seems longer! But often, not long enough, there is always something new to learn.

That will be a nice comfortable birthday presence. To ease your cold to produce heat.

Must be a good time to get some oil, considering the price!
