You Won't See Daddy Again

Lately my son has been asking for his Daddy a lot. This breaks my heart as he is only two and a half years old. His 'father' has been in and out of his life since he was born, he hasn't bothered to see his son in seven months. Sadly I recently discovered something very disturbing which means even if my son's dad wanted to be in his life he can't be allowed anywhere near him.
My heart breaks for my little boy and I've had to gentle explain to my son that he won't be seeing daddy again because its not safe. I've also reminded him that regardless he has lots of people that love him. I fear that he is going to grow up with this big void in his life, I just have to do my best to make sure that doesn't happen.
That is easier said than done, in an ideal world I would love for my child to have both parents in his life. But not everyone can have that no matter how much they might try. I hope that when my son grows up he will understand.

When your son is old enough, find a Cub Scout Pack run by someone you can trust and get involved with your son if you can. Through Scouting he can meet positive male role models and if you volunteer with the unit it will give him the sense of security he needs as he moves through the program and develops the self-confidence and self-esteem that will come from reaching the milestones that Scouting offers. You're involvement is key, though, to keep him interested and active.

That's very sad but his safety is the most important thing. DWDavisRSL 's suggestion is a very good one. He may not have a father in his life but he can have good role models.

Try to find a good male role model, that should help some. Maybe your dad or an uncle could spend time with him

This breaks my heart as well. I am praying that life will be best for you and your son whatever the circumstances may be.

Lucky I very good male friend of mine is like an uncle to him, he has been there since he was born and they have a great bond.

My heart really goes out to you. I so pray there will be another man who can be a Father to your son.
