Saturday Night is Soup Making Night

Saturday night is often Mr C's night with his group. Tonight they have gone to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

That means that Wordy here is a movie widow for the evening. So, it's often the chance to get things done that I never manage when he is in. Like making soup.

of the Week this week is a variation on last week's version. , and leftover roast . This week I added a bunch of stirfried , a mix and a half portion of with that would have been lunch yesterday if I had made it that far.

I also threw in two mugs of broccoli packet soup mix for thickening and the requisite chili flakes and pepper. Even though the roasties were done with five seasoning and there is already some in there from the meat mix made earlier in the week, Mr C likes to taste his soup.

I doubt my asthmatic colleague will approve one bit of my lunch choices, but that's just tough, isn't it? Everyone else always wants to know what I have made this week, and so I shall continue to make Leftover Supper Soup for Mr C and I to eat for weekday lunches during the colder months of the year.

(Oh, and for those keeping count, I only caught myself once with my preferred Western style Santoku bocho tonight. It is still the sharpest knife in my knife block, as I prove every single week.)

That does sound like a good soup that you will be making.

Have made. Now waiting for it to cool overnight so I can blend it and portion it up tomorrow.

Have you seen the new Star Wars movie, and if not, do you have any interest in seeing it?

I'm not a movie buff, Mr Davis. I don't really do visual much at all, unless it's graphics and music entries at a computer coding event. I could easily live without TV and the rare occasion I am persuaded, chased or hauled into a movie theater these days I usually fall asleep. I prefer to read or write while listening to music from a radio or internet stream, to be honest. The last movie I saw was the last Hobbit installment, and that's only because I had seen most of the rest of them and wanted to finish the story, if you like.

It was a good evening with much writing accomplished as well as soup making.

I'm sneaky, you see. It's a way to get Mr C to eat vegetables as well as providing both of us with a filling, nutritious lunchtime meal.

Sometimes we really can't do what we want to do when everyone is there, not because we don't want them to be there, but bonding with them is the most important thing if the people we love is with us, so we set aside things that we want or have to do. Hehehehe.... I am just lucky that my parents went to my grandma's house today and my sister is at work and I am all alone at home and free to blog the whole hours that is still available for me before I sleep and go to work at night.

That's exactly it crowntower . I can cook alone when my husband is in the house but cooking when he's here is usually a two person thing, and 'our time', so he feels all put out that I'm doing something without him. It's easier to make soup when he's out of the house. And as it happened, this soup turned out the best of all my mixes so far. I think the greens and stir fry added just that extra bit of flavour.
