Jury Duty

I received a letter last month asking me to fill out a whole bunch of information as well as a list of why I could not be a juror. So I filled it out and sent it in, I had several different things that I can not be objective on so I made sure to put it down on the paper.

Well last night I checked the mail and had a card from the court house stating that I have to be a juror next Thursday (unless they settle outside of court). I wanted to call them and ask if they were going to make up for the pay I would be losing (since it would be OT that I would be losing). I would go from 15 hours of OT to 4 hours (that's a big chunk to lose for some idiot). I'm hoping that they settle out of court so I can just go to work. Who knew I would ever say "I'd rather be at work" lol.

I have served on a Jury and a Grand Jury before. I wrote an article here not too long ago about it.

I was called for Jury Duty a few years ago, but it was during the summer so I was on break from teaching. I sat in the jury pool room all day for four days and we never got called to the courtroom to sit on a jury, none of us. In NC, you earn $12 a day for sitting jury duty.

That's crazy! I hope I don't have to do that. I would lose a lot more money than that from not being at work.
