What Were They Up To?
OK, So Only LOCAL Breaking News!
Being New Year's Eve last night, of course SOME people just have to "celebrate" too much. I don't see that it is any fun. And for those who say the next day "I don't remember half of it", or even "What day is it", I think they must be missing a few brain cells!
Phone Call This Morning Before 8am
I was already up, though not dressed, when I got a text from my daughter, asking if I would come up and look after the two children while she went back to bed for some sleep. NO! She had NOT been celebrating the New Year, it was people in the flat next door. Apparently next door was partying until 4 am, woke the baby and ended up with banging noises like a door being kicked in!
Got up there before 8am
She's not far away, so even with washing and getting dressed, it didn't take long to walk up.
Wide Open Door
The next door flat front door was lying wide open as I went past. You could see straight in to the stairs leading to the upper floors. The flats were converted from an old house, so it's basically a tall Victorian House with each floor converted into a flat. Normally te front door is closed. The door was still wide open when I left after 10 am. And I hear now that that door is STILL wide open.
Where Are They?
So I don't know if all the people went off to party elsewhere or if they are lying dead inside. Nor am I going in to look!

Some people don't have any regard for others. Your daughter should have called the police.

Unfortunately, the police are not normally available for getting the baby back to sleep again! LOL2

It is regrettable that some folks just lose their sense of perspective and decorum when they party and NYE seems to give them an excuse for all kinds of excessive and rude behavior. Was the door left open or broken down? It'll be a wonder if they don't come home to find a good bit of their stuff has walked away on its own.

I like to party on New Years but I usually fall asleep around one or two a long time ago but now I am in bed around 12:30.

They were such good neighbours it is not at all surprising that that no one is worried about them!

Maybe if was the police who 'opened' the door and carted off the partygoers.

I'm afraid I would have called the cops or the Environmental Health noise pollution team. We had a good celebration here last night, a few bottles of wine and some champagne here, and a delicious roast, concocted from the leftovers of Christmas dinner from 3 houses. This morning we slept in (as we've all been busy lately) and then had a quiet day pottering around with a buffet supper of cold meat, cheese and raw veg. Spent some of the day writing too, which is always a good way to pass an hour or two.

I considered that and it would have been great but I don't think they normally leave the door open.

Sounds like a great day, just exactly what I like!

That is taking things too far, unless the police kicked it in raiding the party.

Oh my goodness, some people just don't know when to stop with the drinking and partying. Hopefully, nothing will be stolen out of their place with that wide open door that is just an invitation to burglars!

It's amazing what some people will do when they are partying and drunk.

Good Lord, Meg! That's awful! I have never celebrated the new year holiday. The most I'll do is call for take out, stay in my pajamas all day and watch movies or television! I hope your daughter is rested now.

Good Lord, Meg! That's horrible! Some people have no respect for others! I hope your daughter has recovered! Nice to meet and read you. I hope you have a great year!

Oh, she got a good two hours sleep after I went up and came down to a clean kitchen with all the dishes done and the children fed!

Sounds like the people next door had way too much fun! Not the way I'd like to start my new year but it really isn't my business. LOL!
