Giving and Receiving - It's a Wrap!

December is often noted as the month for the wrapping and gifting of presents. The giving and receiving of these wrapped goodies symbolizes one of the greatest gifts of the Christian faith -- the birth of the Christ child, Jesus -- in other words, the Spirit of Christmas.

Friendship In the Spirit of the Season

I received not just the gift of a colorful scarf gently gift-wrapped in goodness and gracious giving, but also the gift of friendship. This scarf symbolizes the beginning of a new friendship forming between myself and fellow Persona Paper writer, CoralLevang and it further symbolizes that our is one that goes beyond our meeting as readers and writers online, furthered by a connection of the traditional kind -- connecting through old-fashioned methods, such as tangible, touchable received-in-the-mailbox mail!

I was fortunate to have received in my home mailbox today a gift hand-picked just for me by Coral -- a . I found it delightful that this gift perfectly matches my new coat of a similar color .

The warmth of our budding friendship will wear well, no matter the weather. In fact, as I sit here writing this article I am warm as toast with my new scarf wrapped snug around my neck -- spirit-warmed through the gift of my new-found friend.

For my friend Coral, I dedicate this image of appreciation in Cinquain form (© Ruth Cox)...

Neck scarf
Vivid fashion
Wear year around for warmth
Receiving the gift of friendship
Wrap it!

For honoring me as a recipient of one of your Five Gifts to Share , as well as the gift of this scarf, and even more so with the gift of your friendship ... Thank you, Coral! And have yourself as merry a time as you have made mine!

RuthCox I crocheted the three scarves this year, not knowing where the one was going to go, and when I saw your post about your new colorful coat, I knew that the pink scarf was going to you.
I am glad you like it. Thank you so much for this special post. It means so much to me. Hugs.

My gift from an online friend not necessarily a Christmas gift was when she came all over from the UK to spend a couple of days with me. She brought me a teddy bear and a box of organic biscuits that were manufactured in the factory partnered by Prince Charles

In the spirit of Christmas, it was really special and thoughtful of CoralLevang to send you a scarf. Although I am not sending anything tangible, I am asking God to bestow his blessings on you every day of the year.

@Paulie I couldn't ask for anything better than a prayer on my behalf. For that I truly thank you.

I love this example of how friendships can develop online between people who used to be strangers.
