Doggie In The Window

Upon returning home from work, I took my dog Valentino for a walk. Then I went out on the front porch to sit for a spell in the fresh air. A local gal walking the few blocks from her office downtown to the post office came walking by and when I said hello to her, she abruptly stopped and said, "You left him in there all by himself!"

Most times when this woman sees me I am walking my dog. Today, he was watching me through the window from inside the house.

Although my dog enjoys watching the world go by the sunny window to his world, he really did look as though he was chastising me for not bringing him out on the porch with me. Between the two of them, I felt compelled to bring Valentino out on the porch with me. No doubt he appreciated the neighborly concern that got him out of the house again.

This picture of my doggie in the window with my reflection tells me I will have some window washing to do come Spring!

This world has definitely gone to the dogs.

Awww. He was missing the gossip, the smells and the action outside, bless him. Well, Mr C and I are sending him extra lovely pasta-lardon laden cookingy smells to check out tonight, as well as a hug apiece. If we had dog treats, he'd be getting them cyberwise as well.

He really is a very cute dog. How old is he?

I hardly ever try to wash a certain area of my bay window. They have nose prints back on it before it is dry

I have the urge to sing....

How much is that doggie in the window???? The one with the waggly tail???

MegL wrote on December 10, 2015, 6:11 PM

LOL, isn't that always the way? You do your best by them and the one moment they look as if they are being neglected, someone comes along and notices!

RuthCox wrote on December 10, 2015, 9:08 PM

Indeed! Mine certainly has!

The title of your post reminds me of the early 50s song "Doggie in the Window" by Patti Page. Have you heard it before?

How much is that dog in the window the one with a ........... Don't blame me if I sang along while I was typing this. Now who am I to ask you why you did not take that poor little doggie with you. emoticon

When you see the lonely look in your dogs face you just want to give that dog a hug.

Valentino appreciates your gifts, especially the lardon! And he is quite fond of hugs, too, thank you.

RuthCox wrote on December 11, 2015, 8:02 PM

Thank you. smiles. From what the shelter said when we met him he was around 3, so I guess he's 4 now. Valentino has been with me a little over a year.

RuthCox wrote on December 12, 2015, 9:32 PM

I understand that completely! I may or may not wash Valentino's dog nose and paw prints off this window!

RuthCox wrote on December 12, 2015, 10:07 PM

I hear you! I was singing the same tune while taking his picture and writing this article!

RuthCox wrote on December 12, 2015, 10:49 PM

Too true MegL and this boy sure knows how to get someone's attention with those sad hound dog eyes!

RuthCox wrote on December 12, 2015, 11:04 PM

Oh yes, I know the song well and sing or hum it often when I see my dog in the window!

RuthCox wrote on December 13, 2015, 9:14 AM

I sound a whole lot better singing the song with your accompaniment, thank you! But of course you may ask, bestwriter ... Sometimes I just like to have a few moments to myself to watch the world go by. Most times I do bring my dog out on the porch with me, as yu can see here: http://www.dogpawsitivetidbits.com/2015/11/front-porch-dog-sitting.html

Valentino is wagging his tail with glee that you fell for his hound dog eyes!

Give him a hug and a Merry Christmas from me.

RuthCox wrote on December 13, 2015, 12:28 PM

I just gave him your hug and message, markgraham

I am a true dog lover and I have a collection of figurines with dogs doing all sorts of activities from chewing on newspaper to spilling a flower pot and more.

RuthCox wrote on December 13, 2015, 12:59 PM

Your collection of dog figurines sounds delightful!

Your dog is so beautiful. Definitely Valentino looks like he wanted to go too. Like the photo too cute!!

RuthCox wrote on December 18, 2015, 8:19 AM

Thank you, Brenda and nice to meet you here. Some times Valentino doesn't mind watching through the window and other times he lets me know he wants to be on the porch too, especially if passersby stop to chat. I think he's afraid he's missing something!

traceh wrote on January 17, 2016, 2:17 PM

He is so very cute, feeling very sorry for himself that he has to stay inside. He must have been so delighted when you let him out so he could join you guys.

Oh boy, you fell for Valentino's sad hound dog eyes!
