Christmas Lights Our Way

As my dog Valentino and I strolled through our neighborhood this evening, raindrops fell softly upon our heads in the cool dark of night. Valentino was nose to the ground, in all probability chasing a scent left by a stray cat before the rain washed it away. My thoughts were on the Thanksgiving holiday having just passed by as I kept an ear tuned to the cell phone in my pocket in hopes of a return call from a loved one that might extend my attitude of gratitude into the weekend.
The call never came but as we rounded a corner and I glanced down the street, darkness no longer lurked. Instead, the brightness of Christmas lights draped in red and white were a light unto our path. The house and its fence shone bright in the night, reaching deep down into my spirit with a droplet of glee for my dog and me.
Thanksgiving may well be past but the spirit of giving thanks shall last, for our way is well-lit this season by the light and the gift it may bring, for surely in the twinkling of a heart it will come.

A lovely piece of writing. I enjoy how the Christmas lights light up the darkness this time of year.

I didn't go out tonight to see if any decorations were lighted, but I saw lot of yards during the day where decorations were being put up.

Yes, decorations are popping up all over my neighborhood. I hope to see lots of lights while walking the dog at night throughout the holiday season.
