The 'Old Lady' Gina!

The second rescued dog I'd like to tell you about is our 'old lady' Gina. I say old even though she is only 4 years old but she acts as if she's 99 She is the most well mannered dog I have ever had the pleasure to call my own. She was found in the streets as a pup and somehow ended up in the police force. They trained her and we're not sure how it happened but after a huge earthquake here she found herself living in the streets again. A friend of mine found her after she had been in the streets for a while and took her home. She lived with my friend for more than a year until my friend lost her apartment and had to move back in with her parents who would not allow any pets in their flat.

My friend asked me to just foster Gina for a month or so until she can find her a forever home. Of course I agreed immediately and she came to live with us. She was scared, confused and very depressed when she came to live with us. After the agreed upon month my friend still didn't find anyone willing to take her in so she stayed longer. After 5 months and when Gina finally got out of her depression we decided we will just keep her since I could not let her go through all that confusion, hurt and depression of going to a new owner and or a new place.

So here she is with us and all the cats and two doggy friends and she is so happy and quite a delightful girl to have around. She stopped acting old now and began to play like a young dog should. She still behaves very well, though - just like the 'lady' she is. We love her and the best part is she knows that and loves us back!

That is great that you were able to adopt her. Even though she had to go through some hard times, it was all worth it in the end because she got her forever home with you and your family.

She sounds like a joy to have around. Can we have her give Duke some lessons on manners. He is having a big problem with that right now lol

I'm happy she found such a happy home. How do you all know about her past if your friend just found her wandering in the street?

Hello Marleysa and thank you for following me and commenting to me. I must apologise for taking so long to return the favour. Your Gina is a beautiful girl! God bless your compassionate heart for taking her in. I've rescued cats and also a rabbit. I love animals. It's very nice to meet you and I look forward to reading you again soon.
