How Could She Not Know?

I read an odd story online last night that made me think, "what is wrong with some people". It said that a 47 year old woman went to the hospital feeling ill in her stomach and one hour later she gave birth to her first child! It said that she didn't even know that she was pregnant. She knew something was going on within her lower area, but she honestly thought she was going through menopause because she is in her late 40s. She and her husband were ever so surprised!

Now, this is what I want to know. How can a woman not know she is pregnant? When I was pregnant, during both pregnancies, not only did my gut get bigger, I could feel both babies kick and the kicking got more pronounced in the later stages. My husband and I could see the movements of the kicking. It was quite amazing. I was eating for two and I was much more hungry than normal. And, I know all women who have ever been pregnant and given birth have lots of the same feelings.

So, I don't know how a woman can go 9 months and not know she is pregnant and go to the hospital and drop the baby just like she is laying an egg! And then be shocked she was ever pregnant!

My sister is a Family nurse practitioner and she says it is possible. It could be the mothers' stature and maybe she is the type that did not show.

I can se not knowing up to a point, but like you once the baby gets big enough to feel it moving how do you not go find out what s going on.

It is the aliens that implanted the baby in her. The aliens desensitized her to a point that she really couldn't tell she is/was pregnant. LOL!

Apparently, some women just don't have many symptoms. They made an entire show about women who didn't know they were pregnant. It was called " I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant". It sounds strange, but it happens.

It is absolutely possible to not know you're pregnant as it happened with me too. I had my monthly periods right on time - never missed all through the pregnancy- and as for the kicking of the baby, I thought it was gas since i do struggle with a lot of gas ever since my gal bladder was removed. To my shock i learned i'm pregnant - 7 months already- when i went to see the doctor about the very uncomfortable ''gas'' i'm experiencing these [to add insult to my ignorance - i did have three kids before this one]

I heard stories of this kind over the years and often wondered how true they were

That is very interesting.

That is amazing to know. It just seems odd to me.

I heard of this story. It is surprising that she didn't know, but I guess if she didn't have any of the symptoms, then I can understand how she missed it. Either way, good for her.

Always realize this: there are some pretty stupid people in this world, and a sizable chunk of them live in materially prosperous countries.

It simply has nothing to do with one's intelligence since one can not know unless you have all the symptoms that usually goes with pregnancy. I DID NOT feel any morning sickness, nor did my monthly periods stop at all, and as I explained in my response to this article, the slight kicking of my baby felt similar to the gas problem I have been struggling with for a how was I suppose to KNOW i'm pregnant when none of the usual signs were there|? I find your comment offensive to say the least- plus you have ZERO experience in how pregnant women feel so how can you remark at all?
