Life of Writers: Website for Writers of all Skills, Levels

As I explained in an earlier post, Blasting News: Writing Site , I'm trying to take my writing more seriously than I have been. To that end, I've been searching the Internet for sites that may provide inspiration and direction. One result of that search has been the discovery of LifeOfWriters.com.
Are any of you members of the site? If so, what have your experiences been there? According to an intro blurb on the home page, Life of Writers had been a website in the past, then it closed and now it's back again, restructured.
Like most sites for writers, it has forums, but also news and articles related to writing/writers, lists of publishers, a place for self-published books to be added and seen by site members and more. ( msiduri and DWDavisRSL , your names popped into my head as perhaps being interested.)
There is also a writing contest where the scenario is set, then the writer completes the story in 700 words or less. This week's particular contest is Rainy Wednesday Morning. There will be three winners chosen, with the contest providing participants not only the opportunity to win a prize, but perhaps just as importantly, to stretch your writing skills with input from other members of the community.
I haven't wrote fiction since college, but I'm considering entering the contest, if nothing else but to see how rusty I am.

This is the first I have heard of LifeofWriters. I will check it out and I do think you should enter the writing contest. Good luck!

I wish you lots of luck if you do enter.

It looks to me as if the site must have rather recently re-opened. There are a mere 162 members now, at least that's what the count says. But hey, getting in during the early going is sometimes a great thing.
Thanks for your encouragement about the contest. I'm still debating...if not this time around, perhaps the next. I'm a little timid to put myself out there, but nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?

Thank you kindly, ma'am. : )

That sounds good. I am enjoying your visits round the writing sites. Thank you.

I've never heard of this site. Sounds interesting. I may just check it out. Thanks!

I tried to sign up, but it wouldn't accept my registration. I don't know. Can't be too many msiduris around. I'll give it a few days then try again, assuming it was a glitch at the site. If they still reject me, I give.

Thanks for the heads up. I will most definitely be visiting this site.

Well poop! Sorry about the snafu. I just signed up the day before and the process went smoothly. It's just like recommending a restaurant to a friend, isn't it, and then they try the place and their experience is awful.
Feisty56 wrote on October 25, 2015, 12:11 PM
I appreciate your encouragement and well-wishes. I enjoy sharing with the community -- I'm like a little kid who knows a secret -- I just can't wait to tell someone. lol

You're most welcome. I learn so many things here at Persona Paper and enjoy being able to return the favor.
Feisty56 wrote on October 25, 2015, 12:14 PM
As of last night when I was onsite there, there are only 162 members thus far, so while the site has the potential to be large, we'll be getting in on the ground floor, so to speak.
Feisty56 wrote on October 25, 2015, 12:15 PM
You're welcome I hope you don't encounter any difficulties with sign-up as msiduri mentioned in her comment above. Ugh!

I think I will check this out to for I am interested in more writing projects to.
Feisty56 wrote on October 25, 2015, 1:30 PM
Other than the contest, I'm not sure you'll find writing projects at this site, at least not at this stage of it. For now it seems to be more about writers communicating with other writers -- still, a networking tool.

Thanks for the heads up.

I had no problem signing up with the site but was concerned to find a number of word use and spelling errors in the instructions for the contest. I would have to guess that whoever is writing them may not be a native English speaker.

Feisty56 It happens! I kept recommending one restaurant to a friend because they have fantastic salsa. The one day—the ONE day—we finally go the salsa was off.

I took a look and was greeted with a pop-up which welcomed me back (I have never been there before) and told me that the site had recently been relaunched with a newer and better layout and that the technical problems of the previous page had been cured! Hmmmm - probably not for me.
1Feisty56 wrote on October 25, 2015, 4:55 PM
I have had that happen more than once. I'm reluctant to recommend places such as restaurants and other venues because of it. : )
Feisty56 wrote on October 25, 2015, 5:03 PM
Hmmm, I didn't notice that, as I skimmed over the instructions. Not a positive sign when a writing site has such blatant errors, is it?
Feisty56 wrote on October 25, 2015, 5:05 PM
I, too, was greeted with that pop-up, but my thinking was, "Oh good, they learned from their mistakes first time around!" It's the optimist in me, isn't it? Sometimes being a realist is more practical.

Wow that is so cool. Thank you for sharing. But perhaps do you know a site that can help us have our wirk protected with copyrights? I don't know.... I know I am not able yet to make a fiction novel but somehow I want my effort to be protected before submitting it. Thank you in advance.
1Feisty56 wrote on October 26, 2015, 10:32 AM
I'm afraid I don't have any experience or expertise in the area for which you are seeking information. Two members here who may be able to point you in the right direction as they have published works of fiction are msiduri and DWDavisRSL .
LeaPea2417 wrote on October 26, 2015, 11:45 AM
I have not heard of the site but thanks for the information about it. I will check it out.
1DWDavisRSL wrote on October 26, 2015, 5:40 PM
It makes me wonder who is administering the site and if they were in too much of a rush to get it back up and running.
CoralLevang wrote on November 2, 2015, 2:16 PM
Thanks, Feisty56 ! I might try this site out. It may be easier than NaNoWriMo for me this month!
1frankie2015 wrote on December 18, 2015, 1:10 PM
Thank you very much for the information. I am not a versatile and prolific writer myself and on top I am more of an academic type writer and not imaginative or creative, but I will definitely check out the site.
