Peanuts but no Popcorn

I've been snacking on peanuts this afternoon. I like peanuts fine, but when it is the only thing in the house I can't help but wish I had something else to snack on.

K and I have not done our grocery shopping yet this week. We will stop by the grocery store after church and dinner tonight. This is our usual Saturday night date. It isn't the greatest date but at least we do get to do it together.

This Saturday so far, we've not been able to spend much time together. K brought home work, again, and while she worked this morning I made a run to take cardboard to the recycling center and some surplus hardware to the ReStore. Then I spent a while at my favorite Starbucks enjoying a Vente Caramel Macchiato while I worked on the Pier Rat book.

It was my hope that by the time I got home K would be finished. Alas, I hoped in vain.

I hope she has it all done now. Enjoy your shopping

I think any time two people who love each other get to spend time together is a good date. Me and mine enjoyed kicking back and watching football together or cooking a meal or just talking. I wouldn't trade those memories for anything.

I've gotten so I like mixed nuts. Quality ones. Pecans, Brazil nuts, cashews, almonds, filberts, etc. NO PEANUTS.

May I ask why "K" doesn't have enough time to finish her work in the office? When she does take it home, does she get paid overtime?

I too snack on peanuts often.Hope you did your grocery shopping after church and dinner.

It's difficult to get time together when you are both working. Even when you are not, there is always something or someone else needing attention.

She is still working today, Sunday, and will probably be at it all day.

We do enjoy our shopping dates even though now, K does most of the shopping while I sit in the in store coffee shops and write. This is at her insistence as she worries about my hip.

I enjoy roasted pecans but for reasons I cannot fathom I do not enjoy cashews and almonds and the like.

What a loving and compassionate couple you and K are. : )

K tries to do her work at the office but is always getting called into meetings and conference calls. She is a salaried employee so, no, she does not get overtime when she works at home.

We were able to get our grocery shopping done after church and dinner. You can read about our dinner experience in my post here: http://www.personapaper.com/article/40993-is-bad-service-a-sign-of-economic-improvement

Now that the boys are grown and out of the house we do have more time together as we are not being pulled in multiple directions by their different schedules.

Hope you had success at shopping, but as in life one must expect disappointments.

Our shopping trip was successful but we did run into two instances that exemplified the situation I described in my post http://www.personapaper.com/article/40993-is-bad-service-a-sign-of-economic-improvement

Your wife is obviously a very conscientious and dedicated worker. I took a lot of my school work home with me too when I was teaching. At times my wife hated it.

I try to be very understanding and remind myself that she went through my years in public accounting, with its 70-80+ hour weeks for years before I left that profession to teach. K is a conscientious worker, nearly to a fault.

I love peanuts, but I do hope you were able to get your shopping and done, and spend some time together by now.

DWDavisRSL wrote on October 26, 2015, 9:37 PM

Me, too. We did. We have.

Paulie wrote on October 26, 2015, 11:44 PM

Now I think I understand why you left accounting and went into teaching.
