Splitting For A While

I've noted several folks hereon lately mentioning the phony security and/or update required popups that won't go away until you either close the tab to the site or close your browser altogether. I have fallen prey to these obnoxious popups myself. The latest one included audio to make it more annoying.

Many folks are getting so frustrated with the increasing regularity of these popups coming with almost every PP post they try to read, and concerned likewise with the potential danger of malware or viruses, that they are choosing to stay away from the site until assured that something has been done about these intrusive annoyances.

I cannot say as I blame them for their concern, or the depletion of their patience as this popup problem is now into at least its second week. I, too, am concerned that these popups may be vehicles for investing my computer with nasty code meant to do me harm. And tonight, after three straight incidents on three straight posts I read, I have to ask myself if the folks who are taking a hiatus until the situation is addressed have the right idea.

While I have no intention of taking such a hiatus, I do plan to be careful about those popups.

I guess I didn't realize it has been over a week since someone first mentioned these concerning pop-ups. I know elitecodex has been notified both here on on the Persona Paper Facebook page, so I hope he soon has time to handle this issue.

I will be watching closely for these pop-ups and can't really blame anyone who is staying away. We will just have to be especially careful.

I thankfully have not had any. But understand the fear. The biggest thing for safety is not to click on them

I can understand that pop ups are annoying. I've been pretty luck as I haven't had problems with them. I'll still be careful.

I get pop up pages which is very annoying since i have a pop up blocker. I am just enduring it right now because I do have things to do online.

In dealing with pop-ups I just 'x' out the ad and continue my work.
The only pop-up I really have an issue with and it is my computer is that the 'Crackle television programs' pop-up behind the site platform but the audio is distracting if I forget to disable it.

Some of the popups just return the instant you x them out. X-ing out others results in a new window that asks if you really want to leave. This one keeps coming back if you say you do want to leave. You have to either close the tab or close the whole browser to make them go away.

As of yet, I am only having the popup problem here on PP.

Like I said in my previous comment 'Crackle' is the only popup I have. I kind of just mute it and continue my work for 'crackle' shows up when I am already working on something.

I don't click on them but sometimes it is all but impossible to make them go away without closing the tab or the whole browser.

They were so on my tail last night! I ran an AVG scan and everything was clear though.

My McAfee assures me that everything is okay so far.

So far so good. I do not have those issues yet.

I have switched to using Firefox instead of Chrome and am only opening one or two tabs at a time. So far that has kept the popups at bay. Glad they aren't affecting you and hope they keep away.

I had issues on that other site and Admin suggested that I disable some extensions and the moment I did it all is well there for me now.
