To be or not to be...the captain of the cricket team

I don't know much about other team sports but is unique in one sense and that is how the of a cricket team is treated.

If under his , the teams wins matches, he is treated as a national . He is idolized, praised and given the status of a demi god. You'll see his face plastered everywhere on billboards , TV ads, magazines and what not.

But if the team loses then there is no figure so maligned and hated as him. People literally call for his head, TV programs are held just to tear his personality and leadership qualities apart.

Sometimes demonstrations are held outside his house. And everyone wants his head on a plate. There is no greater villain than him and everything wrong is his fault entirely.

This is especially true for captains of Asian cricket teams. How are captains of other team sports treated in your country?

It's not quite as bad as that, even for cricket, here but Captains bear a lot of responsibility for th team's performance, just like a manager for abusiness. But so do those who choose the captain.

Not that great a fan of sports, but if you get all the glory I suppose it is fair to get all the blame, too!

There are many sports in this country in which leaders are treated in the exact same manner, Dawnwriter. Fortunately for yours truly, I couldn't care less about sports of any kind, so these mood swings don't affect me!

Is the captain of a cricket team a player or a manger or both. In American sports, the managers who are non-players are held responsible if a team plays poorly.
