6 Tricks to Get You to Drink More Water
Keeping hydrated and drinking eight glasses of water a day is a great health tip that everyone should be doing but it seems easier said than done. Most people do not drink the recommended amount of water every day.
Do you drink enough water throughout the day? If not, then check out these six tips to get you to drink more water.
1.) Do not wait until you are thirsty , because that is one of the first signs of dehydration. It is ideal to keep your body hydrated so that you don't feel the dryness and discomfort of being thirsty often.
2.) Keep a glass close by. If you always have a bottle or glass of water nearby, you are more likely to drink more water. Have a bottle at your desk at work, when you go to the gym, leave a bottle in your car, and anywhere else you can! Don't forget to make it a habit to drink from that bottle or glass. Another great habit that will help is to have a glass of water before eating.
3.) Add a little flavor to your water. Sometimes just drinking plain water can get boring. Water can seem especially boring if you are used to drinking a lot of soda or sweet drinks. The good news is that you can add a little flavor to water. Try adding a lemon slice, orange slice or lime slice to your water to add a little flavor. Try to avoid adding sugar though!
4.) Drink a glass before a meal. Often times our bodies send signals to our brains letting us know that it is thirsty but we misread this signals as hunger. This is why having a glass before a meal can help drive away hunger feelings. It is also a great trick if you are looking to lose a little weight by eating less or less often.
5.) Increase the amount you drink slowly. If you are not used to drinking a lot of water in a day, your body might not react well to a sudden increase in water. Instead of trying to drink eight glasses a day right away, take it slowly. Start gradually increasing the amount of water you drink a day and you'll reach those eight glasses in no time!o a great trick if you are looking to lose a little weight by eating less or less often.
6.) Try some healthy alternatives. If you still find it difficult to get the recommended daily amount of water in your body each day, then try another healthy option like tea, vegetable juice, or blend your own vegetables or fruit. Tea is basically hot water with herbs which give it a slight flavor and health benefits. Vegetable or fruit smoothies can be easily made at home and require you to add water to the mixture making them a tasty way to get some water.
