One Night With Elvis Presley

I don’t know how many of you remember Elvis Presley, but I’m sure just about everyone has at least heard of him. I grew up listening to Elvis, and loving to sing I soon started to mimic his style and technique. As I grew older and was of bar room age I started singing at Karaoke nights at my local bars. I always got good responses off the songs I sang. Request for more or even standing ovations. I went as far later to have an Elvis outfit made up from a local woman. Well I got married and my bar room days were over along with my Elvis days. I did not quit singing. I sang every chance I got around the house, New Years parties, birthdays etc. There was one experience that I will never forget. It seems that my wife told some good friends of hers that I sang like Elvis. Before long her friend contacted me and asked me if I would sing for this little girl who had cancer. It seems that this little girl loved Elvis and his music. I said yes. So I grabbed my outfit and off I was on a two hour ride to this ladies house. When I got there her mother greeted me. I asked where I could changed, and she showed me the bathroom. Everyone wanted to be present during my appearance, but I told them NO it was just between me and this little girl who had cancer. While video taping I sang a couple of songs to her, kissed her on the forehead and put a scarf around her neck telling her at the same time I Love you. Later this little girl passed away. Her mom contacted us and told us that she would later watch the video tape I made over and over until the day she died. I was thankful for being able to be a part of this little girls last days and making them as happy ones. It sure feels good to bless someone else.

It will be a long, long time before anyone forgets who Elvis Presley was.

I remember Elvis. I saw him in March in Austin, TX in one of his last concerts the year he died. I loved him. emoticon

What you did for that little girl is such a gift. You touched my heart. Truly.

You did a great work of mercy for the little girl. What songs did you sing for her? I liked Elvis's beginning songs like "Love Me."

What a wonderful experience, both for you and the little girl and her family. That was a truly selfless thing to do.
