Performing For Our Independence Day Celebration

Our celebration for the 116th Independence Day of our nation in the Philippines has not yet officially ended. So far, this is the most memorable celebration I attended as I was part of the group of teachers who performed early this morning in our city’s own tribute to celebrating freedom.

When you are in government and you are public school teacher, you are expected to participate

It took us four days to perfect the steps and we were constantly getting comments that our facial expressions were not enough. We interpreted the local song ‘Dakilang Lahi’ (Great Race) and for the first time in many years, I was able to dance again.

I was assigned to be one of the elites who are to act as one of the rich people during the Spanish era. The role is quiet difficult. I am not graceful and so acting my role is a great challenge.

Apart from this, our group were given different roles that are to represent the past, present and future of the country.

The experience is really memorable and I am proud of our performance. We were able to deliver what our director wants. I am giving myself a pat on the back.

Looking forward till our next presentation!
