Manners in the Mall

Have you ever noticed how people sometimes behave badly in a shopping mall?
Sometimes they rush into elevators /lifts leaving very little space for mothers with toddlers or prams. It is really so rude and inconsiderate. It makes me mad when young people and men want to use the elevator because they can easily go on escalators in shopping malls or even climb the stairs. Then mothers with prams have to take the babies or toddlers out, fold the pram and then use the escalator which is so inconvenient.
Another thing I dislike is also about people standing right outside the elevator. As soon as it stops, they try to rush in as quickly as possible without giving ANY thought to people who are already in it.
How are we going to get out if a horde is standing right outside the elevator without giving an inch to those who want to exit.
Everyone seems to be in so much hurry to just get to their destination that they leave all common courtesy behind. There is a lot of jostling and elbowing and it is especially difficult for parents with strollers and elderly people on wheelchairs .
And those who try to jump queues when it comes to checkout....
What is the worst behaviour you have encountered in shopping malls.

Living in a smaller community I've not had too much of that behaviour, but I can envisage what you mean.

I have encountered all of the things you mention in the mall in malls in Thailand.

One of my pet hates about shopping centres is the crowds of people standing outside the elevator trying to get in while I'm trying to get out!

That is one of many things I feel so uncomfortable going to the malls.

There is something about shopping that drives people nuts!

You can find that many people in a mall these days except during Christmas time? While I agree with you concerning annoying behavior which also relates to public transportation, why can't the mother with the pram simply wait for the next elevator rather than the escalator hassle?

Oh, it's ridiculous when people rush the elevator without letting people out. So incredibly stupid! Fortunately I don't see this behaviour too much in the South; people are generally courteous.

Same stuff happens on buses in my area. People jump on the bus as soon as it stops unless those wishing to alight are Right There Waiting. Even if they are some particularly obtuse nerks will think there is enough space behind their arse to allow yummy mummy with mini-SUV size buggy to get out...

I seldom see those problems but do not tolerate them if they do happen. I have no problem being loud and obnoxious if I feel it is necessary

People, many of them, think they, as a person, are the center of the universe. It's not the me-first generation. It's the me-only generation. It will soon pass away. We are, after all, living in "the last days."
