Open Invitation to Virtual Persona Paper Potluck

Inspired by the camaraderie of the members here at Persona Paper and a number of comments to the post " Ravioli Lasagna -- My Interpretation ," I've hit upon the idea of a virtual PP potluck, with one and all invited to attend and enjoy.
Real life being what it is, with members here scattered all over the globe, an in-person potluck is out of the realm of possibility. But a virtual potluck -- that we can do!
Let's put our minds to it: What will we bring? In what virtual place should the potluck be held? What sort of decorations to have? I'm sure there is much I am forgetting, but I'm counting on you folks to chime in and help me get the ball rolling.
If you're interested, let's tag our posts for this virtual event with VirtualPotluck so we can find one another and stay a bit organized. I'm hoping to see people writing posts about what dish or dishes they plan to bring -- and perhaps provide recipes of those dishes in posts, too.
I know some people will have great ideas for where this virtual event should be held -- and perhaps we'll do a poll when we have a few choices so those participating can decide.
It's an idea for a bit of fun and interaction, as well as some writing prompts for future posts. I hope you'll consider entering into the spirit of this virtual event. All suggestions are welcome. Think of it as group brainstorming. : )

Leave the decorations to me as I have been having parties for orphans every single year and they love what I do for them. This time it will be polka dots - be it balloons, cups, whatever (lol)
1I can go 'polka' for our party too, if there is consensus from all. What say? Ofcourse I insist on hats with polka dots too (lol)
And as for getting a dish I will make a cabbage salad - shred it, marinate it with salt, chuck out the liquid and mix the cabbage shreds in curds that has a good helping of mustard paste, add sugar, onion rings, chopped green chilies, and chopped coriander leaves - the salad is ready. .
*I do not think one has to tag their comments since you have done that to your post already.

I had forgotten about your annual parties for the orphans at Christmastime! I imagine you do have a talent for decorations. Polka dots sound fun, and the cabbage salad sounds yummy.
I had thought that people would write posts about their ideas, recipes, etc., which is why I suggested the tag.

That sounds like a wonderful idea, my mouth is watering already, so count me in. Let me think about what I'll bring
advance hint, it may be something seafood.

You mean to say we should write separate posts on the subject?
Feisty56 wrote on September 8, 2015, 10:05 PM
I thought people might be interested in writing posts about it, sort of as a collective writing prompt. If you're not interested in doing that, and I'm sure you won't be the only one, that's okay too. : )

Hmmm, seafood -- oh, the possibilities!

I need to think about what to make, but do think somewhere on a warm beach would be a wonderful place for it
1MegL wrote on September 9, 2015, 2:35 AM
I like the sound of "warm beach". Haven't seen that at all this year!
MegL wrote on September 9, 2015, 2:37 AM
Hmm, well if it's a beach as wolfgirl569 suggests, then I would bring sandwiches, I like the sound of bestwriter 's cabbage salad too and valmnz 's seafood.

&VirtualPotluck sounds like a great idea. I will be on the lookout for good Thai dishes and recipes for this event.

You have put a wrong symbol. It should be # to tag a phrase or word. VirtualPotluck

wolfgirl569 is just hoping to see someone in a mankini. But not me though. My gawd that's like a potato in a rubber band. But, someone.

Oh come on LoudMan every party needs a class clown at least. If you wear yours Ill wear mine

I'm fine with polka dots!
1Warm beach? Santa Monica, California, then we can all go play on the pier afterwards, or walk off the food down the boardwalk towards Venice Weight Pen.
I can bring a rice salad, one of my famous 'throw anything in that's around the place' ones. I'll start with a base, say lemon and rosemary rice, and add avocado, peas, corn, cherry tomatoes, beetroot, mayo, spring onions and cucumber. Don't think I can get radishes at this time of year though so might have to have some cashew nuts on the side for those who want a bit of crunch in it. I won't add them myself because I don't know if anyone's nut allergic. I'll steer clear of valmnz 's seafood too, not a fan of that.

A warm beach sounds inviting, doesn't it? I think you should bring us some samples of your homemade canned goods.
Feisty56 wrote on September 9, 2015, 7:00 PM
Hmmm, the thought of bare feet in the sand is appealing. : )
Feisty56 wrote on September 9, 2015, 7:01 PM
Oh, LoudMan , the head pictures I get from this! I'll never be able to erase them. lol
Feisty56 wrote on September 9, 2015, 7:03 PM
Sandwiches would be great! There are so many of us that we can have quite a wide variety from which to choose. Perhaps one meal wouldn't give enough opportunity to sample all the fare. We might have to make it an over-nighter. : )
Feisty56 wrote on September 9, 2015, 7:04 PM
Hmmm, would enjoy sampling Thai dishes. Sounds like a tasty addition. : )

ROFL...you're the one who put this idea in my head, what with asking if your hubby could come eat Italian at my place since you don't care for it. Then a couple of other people wanted to try the ravioli lasagna, too, and I began thinking how awesome it would be if we really could get together and enjoy food and good company. : )
The wedding is a little over 5 weeks away yet. I need something to take my mind off the mounting angst -- this should help. Thank you. : )
Feisty56 wrote on September 9, 2015, 7:10 PM
I've never been to California...a potluck sounds like a fine reason to visit there. Your rice salad sounds like a smorgasbord all by itself! I best not eat for a week before we gather virtually together.
LoudMan wrote on September 9, 2015, 7:54 PM
Well, if you're willing to wear yours, wolfgirl569 , how can I say no?
1LoudMan wrote on September 9, 2015, 7:56 PM
It'll take a half-gallon of brain bleach, at least.
1wolfgirl569 wrote on September 9, 2015, 10:49 PM
Well at least now the two of us know what we are wearing to the beach party lol
1Paulie wrote on September 10, 2015, 12:13 AM
Thanbk you very much for pointing this out to me!
bestwriter wrote on September 10, 2015, 12:27 AM
You are welcome. These things happen when we are at other sites where it is different.
LoudMan wrote on September 10, 2015, 1:25 PM
Just remember, we're all still naked, underneath our clothes.
WordChazer wrote on September 10, 2015, 3:10 PM
Thank you. I'm an inventive creator of dishes, I find. I tend to take something basic and 'add stuff' to it. I might even add mushrooms to the mix too, as I love raw mushrooms. Maybe I could bring simple plain rice and mayo with a selection of extras and everyone could make their own. That's a good idea. Then if you want chicken rice you can add pieces of cooked, cold chicken. If you want beef rice, chilli beef strips, Val's seafood or simply veggies.
wolfgirl569 wrote on September 10, 2015, 3:36 PM
I was thinking of bringing noodles
wolfgirl569 wrote on September 10, 2015, 3:38 PM
Never naked always at least sky clad lol
LeaPea2417 wrote on September 10, 2015, 5:58 PM
My husband makes a very good boston butt pork roast that is great cut real thin and served on hamburger buns with barbecue sauce. I will bring that and I will bake a chocolate cake with chocolate icing for dessert.

This is really such a great idea. Give me time and I will think what I can contribute best in that great event.
ViperGirl85 wrote on September 13, 2015, 9:23 PM
Awe that's cute! :) I'll have to keep up with this, especially the recipes. :)
chrisandmark wrote on September 16, 2015, 3:45 PM
How do I tag a 'something'? In the same way as tagging a person Feisty56 ? I'd be interested in having a go at this!
paigea wrote on September 27, 2015, 12:17 PM
Is it too late? Did I already miss this fun event? I would enjoy this.
lexiconlover wrote on September 30, 2015, 1:29 PM
This is an awesome writing prompt. I will have to post my contribution later today, even though it is far after the time that you actually posted this. Lol
