Israel Won't Accept Mid-East Refugees

Benjamin Netanyahu, PM of Israel, stated recently that Israel won't accept Syrian or other Mid-East refugees. He claims that Israel cannot be "submerged" by refugees. I find that statement strange since back in January of 2015, after the Charlie Hebdo massacre in Paris, Netanyahu formally invited all the Jews of Europe to come live in Israel due to the dangers of Jihadi terrorists and the rise of neo-Nazi groups on that continent.

If Netanyahu's heartless statement weren't enough be aware that the Israeli govt is stepping up the building of a much longer and taller wall along the Israeli-Syrian border designed to keep Syrian migrants out of Israel. With all the flak Trump has been receiving about wanting to build a wall to keep immigrants out, Israel is already doing it. Moreover, the Israeli govt is deporting black African Jews out of Israel by the thousands and there is strong public support there for these deportations.

Now some of you might argue that Israel shouldn't allow Muslims or Arabs to live in that country because of the clash between Judaism and Islam. I have news for you. Israel is already home to a large population of Arabs and other Muslim people. So that excuse is a non-starter.

Many Americans don't really understand the special relationship between the USA and Israel. For one thing why would Israel, a Socialist country with universal state-sponsored health care, free higher education for Orthodox Jews, subsidized housing esp for settlers, old-age pensions based on citizenship not work hours, be given over $3.1 billion in military and economic aid by US taxpayers every year? This also begs the question that must be asked that if the Israeli economy has been doing so well while the USA has been in a long recession, then why should the American taxpayers be forced to send this aid every year? Moreover, it has been this way for the last 40 years. It just doesn't make any sense and the aid should stop.

Also Israel has never paid back any of the loans that the US has given to that country over decades and the government there is allowed a loophole to keep from going into a technical default on these US govt guaranteed loans. This is essentially a scam forcing even more US taxpayer money be allocated for this arrogant little nation.

I don't think any taxpayer money should be given to any foreign country not just Israel. No aid period. We need every cent for the ills of our own country.

Therein lies the heart of politics and the reason I neither understand it nor like it.

Would have been nice if you had shared the link to your news source. If more than once source, at least one source. Would be interested in the details. Will see if anything is reported on television.

ALSO: Since Israel has a large Arab and Muslim population, is it possible some of the refugees are relatives? Maybe a non-Jewish Israeli citizen could sponsor a Syrian refugee. It's a thought. It's worth at least thinking about it.

Sad to say I'm not shocked or surprised on Israel's stance...
