Throwing Out the List on Labor Day Weekend

Out of the 10 things I had on my list yesterday, I completed five on the list. I shall let you figure out which ones.

This list-making focus of mine does not seem to be working out very well, at least for the past couple of days. The first thing on my list, "Get a battery for my garage door opener," seems to have gone as a FAIL, as the new battery has not made a difference. I am unable to open my garage door with the remote. I noticed it stopped working, of course, when the power went out, but the remote does not work now. The hard-wire switch inside the garage does work, however.

So, I have decided that I will not make a list today or any other day through the holiday. I would hate to be accused for each of three days in a row that I am lacking in drive and ambition for getting my chores done.

But then again, it is Labor Day weekend. I have worked many of the holiday weekends others have gotten to enjoy at my expense over the 40 years I have been employed, contributing to the prosperity, strength, and well-being of this country.

I think that throwing out the list is an appropriate response to all bosses, including myself when I am self-employed, insistent that I should not think for myself!

Long live the list revolution!

I am an avid list maker and, as long as I cross one thing off that list each day I feel as if I've achieved something. Good on you, don't nake any lists. Have a break. You deserve it.

I feel exactly like valmnz . i need to cross things off lists otherwise I fail like a lazy failure but it is nice to have a break once in a while.

*laughs* Okay...big sister, Val, says one thing off the list each day is achievement. Check.

You go girl, It is time to take some fun time for yourself. Now where did my beer go? It is a holiday weekend afterall

You didn't fail at your quest to get a new battery for the garage door opener -- you did get the battery. No where on your list did it say you should determine what's wrong with the remote and fix it yourself, was there? : )

Might you have to reset the code on the garage door opening receiver, or somehow re-sync it to the remote. We had to do that after being without power after one of the first hurricanes we went through.

I don't buy beer. It will be BYOB here. emoticon :winking: I will BMOS, instead. emoticon :winking:

CoralLevang wrote on September 5, 2015, 9:13 PM

Feisty56 Okay, you got me there!! *laughs*
I do wonder if there is a reset button somewhere.

CoralLevang wrote on September 5, 2015, 9:14 PM

Do you know how I do that? I really don't want to have to call the maintenance department from the base housing office.

DWDavisRSL wrote on September 5, 2015, 9:34 PM

Not knowing what kind of system you have I couldn't venture a guess. Do you have the manual for the system? It should guide you through the steps. If you don't, you can probably google it.

CoralLevang wrote on September 5, 2015, 9:39 PM

I'll go to the garage first and look for a reset button or directions. They never gave me a manual when I moved in here on base. Then, I shall google it.

CoralLevang My list worked yesterday - Saturday - but today I'm ignoring it. I get very few days off - the 5 a year! Today is a day that will be slightly spontaneous! Not sure how yet...cheers!

I expect to spend Labor Day laboring. I still have a lot to do before the new beds are delivered, and they could call any time now to schedule. Enjoy your day of listlessness.

Batteries are the things I always forget!

CoralLevang wrote on September 7, 2015, 6:09 PM

I hope that you get them delivered soon! Enjoy your day!

CoralLevang wrote on September 7, 2015, 6:10 PM

And I forget the toilet paper and dish soap!

Now that I'm spending six days a week in the content mill I've thought of making a "to do" list on my home computer...that'd be one way to see just how high Windows ME can count!
