Football in the south.

I forget how much the south loves football. Especially where I am. I don't know how I forget because the FANS (the ones who have cars in their teams colors and tattoo's of the mascots) are obnoxious about it every single football season.

Anyway. There have been probably fifty or sxity people who I've seen while writing at the mall today who have been donning their team colors, logos and clothing. Even though I'm not in Alabama, I'm close enough. I have seen so many roll tide and Bama shirts today that you would think I was in Albama. Of course I've seen some Gators fans as well. And a couple Seminoles fans. Which I can fully support. If I'm gonna cheer for any of the Florida teams, it's going to be the Seminoles. Other wise it's Tennessee, well as far as College ball goes.

The funniest part was when a whole family of Alabama fans walked in, and one of the girls had a Auburn shirt on. She was the only one. It made me smile. Good for her, for rooting for who she wanted to regardless of what the rest of her family liked.

I'm not sure I have seen college fans crazier than the ones who are die hard fans for for Alabama.

Fans are crazy everywhere. Tide, 12th Man, Yankees, etc., Regardless of sport, pro or collegiate.

You never met a UK football (soccer) fan then. I had a colleague at a previous place of work who so mad on Newcastle United, the Magpies, that his entire wardrobe consisted of kit. Now the Magpies are my team (my University halls was right opposite the ground) but I merely have a keyring, a mascot bear and two T-shirts which my husband bought for me from the fan shop at the ground when he was working up there on a long contract a few years back.

I get pretty excited about football, but don't buy/own team shirts, etc. I give my gusto shouting at the TV while watching the games.

I have Seminoles stuff, but it was gifts. I do however buy Tennessee stuff, because that's where I go/went to school.

We live in North East Georgia and this is Georgia Bull Dog Country, but my son is a big Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket fan. His two close guy friends don't get why he likes Tech so much. I think it has to do with the fact that his Grand Pa likes Tech and has been talking about them since my son was a toddler.

College football fans around here get pretty serious about their teams. K and I are NC State Wolfpack fans considering A graduated from there and Z is still going there.

Football is a religion in the south. I don't understand it (I'm a southerner). I think it's probably because, for decades, the south didn't have any professional sports teams, so college football became "the" sport. I like baseball myself. emoticon

Oh no. Rooting for a NC team. Boo.just kidding. It could be worse. You could be rooting for Notre Dame.

Oh no, you did not just go there. What ever happened to win one for the Gipper and all that?

I guess it's okay though. Notre Dame is in one of them Yankee states.
