Start your day off by learning these five random things that are happening in the world.

I thought this might be kind of fun. Every day, or maybe just every few days- I am going to post a article that includes a selection of random news tidbits. Today it's going to be fine, and it'll probably always be five unless for some reason there is a day where there is a large amount of news that is random. I'm doing this because one, it's an interesting look at what we as a culture view deemable as news, and two it's a break from all the depressing news that we encounter on a daily basis.

So without further ado, here is today's list.

  1. The last season of the much loved British telvision series "Downton Abbey" premieres in September in the UK.
  2. Kanye West has announced that he will be running for president in 2020.
  3. Hatsfield-Jackson International airport in Atlanata, Georgia is once again the busiest airport in the world. A title that the airport has held on to for seventeen years in a row.
  4. Bindi Irwin and Paula Deen are both competing in this coming season of Dancing with the Stars.
  5. It has been announced that a "Sons of Anarchy" spin- off show is in the works, this is after the SOA show ended last year.

Do any of these news stories really impact the world on a breaking news level, nope. Are they a nice break from the regular breaking news yep. This was the only article category section that seemed fitting for this article so this is where it will be posted. Do any of these articles interest you? Did you come across a "unconventional" news story, breaking ot otherwise this morning?

This seems such a good idea , so I'll watch out for your random news. I'd heard the first two only. Look forward to seeing what else you choose.

I didn't realize they were ending Downton Abbey, I thought it was still very very popular. I guess quit while they are ahead is the thinking behind this.

I like this. Free news about current happenings. It's a good thing, but I never thought someone like Paula Deen would dance on that show. Unbelievable.

Great idea here -- and what a nice writing prompt for each day! Kanye for president in 2020...we better get ready for that. : )

I honestly think its an attempt on her part to gain some of her fans back when she lost them with her huge N-word controversy. In the past the vast majority of contestants on Dancing with the Stars are on it in order to become popular again or try for another fifteen minutes of fame. Bini Irwin is only famous because she is the daughter of Steve Irwin, yeah she's done some stuff on her own as she has grown up- but she probably never would of had the opportunity to do so had she been born to a John Smith father as opoosed to Irwin.

It will be interesting to see what happens.

I cannot believe that Kanye West would run for president. I guess he's another case of someone who mistakes being famous, or in his case infamous, for being intelligent and important.

My spouse likes to listen to the business news and news by foreign countries like BBC and NHK World. He needs to be coaxed sometimes though to watch news at all. He says they always report the same stuff. I say ... turn it on just to find out if we're being invaded or attacked please.
