Stung By The B

This is going to be a bit of a rant. Consider yourselves warned.

Today I got stung by the B. Evidently, if you are an author, you are not even allowed to comment on your own work over there these days. I posted an article on the B earlier this morning introducing the main character of my new book that comes out tomorrow. Nowhere in the article did I ask people to go buy the book. Nowhere did I include a link to a vendor where the reader could buy the book. I did include a link to my blog if the reader wanted to learn more about the book.

I wonder if it was the content of the article that violated the TOS, the inclusion of a link to my blog, or perhaps it was the photo. The photo was one I have purchased the rights to, and included that information in the attribution.

Whatever their reason, admin at the B hit the big no button and took down the post. I'm sure I will receive an explanation via e-mail shortly as to why. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

Yeah, I knew their treatment of contributors there will show up again. Arvind and company are cursed. 😊

Well, I think that more people should be willing to share on their blogs and other places, their experience of the B site, but talk about their experiences on Bubblews. It's time that reviews are searchable, as restaurants have on Yelp and other businesses. As long as it is about one's experience and opinion, then it should be okay, right? Trouble is, too many people feared turning them in to BBB and such. Yes, a few were the ones that made the BBB take notice to go from an A+ to an F grade.

I left that place ages ago and wild horses wouldn't drag me back. Why anyone still writes there is a mystery to me.

MegL wrote on August 22, 2015, 1:35 PM

I am not even bothered going to look at the site, after all the negative hype.

DWDavisRSL wrote on August 22, 2015, 2:04 PM

I only see about a dozen people active on the B at any one time, and half of them are complaining about delays in getting their redemptions. I am beginning to think I'd be better off to just leave but hate to give up the amount in my bank.

DWDavisRSL wrote on August 22, 2015, 2:06 PM

I know that for a time, the admins over at the B were deleting any post critical of the site. I'm not sure if they are still doing that.

DWDavisRSL wrote on August 22, 2015, 2:07 PM

I guess some of us hoped that things would eventually get better. Lately, the traffic on the site has dropped to next to nothing. It may not survive this latest round of disgruntled contributors.

wolfgirl569 wrote on August 22, 2015, 3:22 PM

Sorry to hear that. I never check in there any more at all and dont even think about it unless I see it mentioned here

valmnz wrote on August 22, 2015, 4:05 PM

Not good. Though I think most sites have a basic ruling disallowing self promotion considered as marketing or business. Maybe that's how they saw it. Maybe someone flagged you for that reason.

DWDavisRSL wrote on August 22, 2015, 5:22 PM

I guess I was too optimistic about the B. If I visit any more, it will be to stay in touch with friends there who haven't migrated here or to mL.

DWDavisRSL wrote on August 22, 2015, 5:24 PM

Could be, but I tried hard to make the post about the girl who was the main character and included no buy links. And I've seen plenty of posts on their about folks Etzy stores and such where they talk about what they've got for sale. I think it was either the link to my blog or the photo that did me in. It was a photo I purchased a license to use any way I wanted, but maybe the B didn't like it anyway.

chrisandmark wrote on August 22, 2015, 5:35 PM

Oh dear, that doesn't sound good - I'm glad I left over there when I did!

LoudMan wrote on August 22, 2015, 5:48 PM

How are you giving up wht you ain't gonna get?

And I hope you ain't an English teacher. 😕

VinceSummers wrote on August 22, 2015, 6:02 PM

Some sites just are not worth the trouble. Why not set up your own blog in the field of YOUR choice? You seem an intelligent man...

DWDavisRSL wrote on August 22, 2015, 7:03 PM

You got lucky. This year I'm teaching social studies and science. Last year I taught English.

As to the other, I guess I'm just optimistic. As long as the site is up and running there's a chance I'll get to cash out someday.

I'll tell you this, though, I'll be cutting back even more on the time I invest there.

DWDavisRSL wrote on August 22, 2015, 7:05 PM

I do have a blog and have reincarnated/reinvented it a couple times. Most recently I'm writing it about my writer self from a third person perspective. Don't know if it will work but it's a lot of fun.

LoudMan wrote on August 22, 2015, 7:54 PM

It's probably a good choice.

wolfgirl569 wrote on August 22, 2015, 11:16 PM

A lot of mine had left even before they stole peoples money from them for various other reasons. But many were not being paid way before the big one happened

Paulie wrote on August 23, 2015, 2:24 AM

I'm sorry this happened to you on the B considering all of the crap which they allowed when I was posting there. Just out of curiosity, are you earning more on the B now than on PP?

Sailorchronos wrote on August 23, 2015, 10:12 AM

I learned this the hard way when I criticized the managing of the site that I was writing for. Many people don't take criticism well and respond by trying to erase any and all forms of it on their sites. I do understand that they don't want their brand to look bad, even if it obviously IS bad.

Right now I'm spending a few days for both sides to cool off. If I were really nasty there's lots of things I could do but I'm going to take the moral high ground and just write.

My PP earnings are now 2 to 3 times my earnings on the B. And that ratio will probably get wider as I won't be spending near as much time over there as I had been.

DWDavisRSL wrote on August 23, 2015, 7:36 PM

"You have chosen wisely," if I may quote the Templar Knight from Indiana Jones third movie. The post that was taken down made no reference at all to the B. It was just a bit of a character bio on the main character of my new book.

cheri wrote on August 23, 2015, 11:27 PM

Well, I wish that you really receive an email but expect too not a word from them.

Sailorchronos wrote on August 24, 2015, 12:16 AM

It took me a year to get my last $50 so I decided it wasn't worth continuing. I keep meaning to go back there and delete my content.

FreyaYuki wrote on August 24, 2015, 9:53 AM

Did you receive an email from them yet? Haven't been there in a while. Sorry to hear about this. Maybe it's because of the link to your blog? Not sure if I remember correctly but I think it's part of their rules that people are not allowed to share links to sites where they can earn something if visitors go there. If your blog has ads and contains affiliate links, maybe that's why. Otherwise, not sure why they'd take the post down since you said you didn't include any other link and didn't ask people to buy your book. Hope you get this sorted out soon.

Reminds me I need to do something about my posts on several sites. That one among them. I need my posts outta there and being read on my blog, where they will be loved and shared. Mr C is talking about taking a week off next month to sort shizxle here. Maybe I should join him and get some sorting of my own done...

DWDavisRSL wrote on August 24, 2015, 10:22 PM

I never heard from them at all. My blog is monetized but they are AdSense ads, not my own. I'm not really worried about it. What's done is done.

DWDavisRSL wrote on August 24, 2015, 10:23 PM

I took down almost all my posts on the B that were dated before 1/1/15. I think once I make, if I make, this next redemption I'll pull down the rest and call it done.

WordChazer wrote on August 25, 2015, 3:22 PM

I'm going towards that idea too. Not so much spare time right now but Mr C wants a week at home next month and I have a) building works going on in my office and b) 4 days of TOIL to take so I think I may well be considering joining him.
