My new Pets

I now have new pets. Still furry. I was fascinated by the different breeds of guinea pigs. I thought they were all the same. There seemed to be around 60 kinds. Long haired and short haired breeds.
They also grow big, to a foot long and some even bigger. The long haired ones can be mistaken for tiny dogs hehe.
Some breeds are:
American - short haired and smooth
Abyssinian - sort of in-between but mostly considered short air but the hair is fluffy.
These are long haired : Coronet, sikies or shelties, peruvian, crested, teddy and texel.
Then there are the hairless called skinny pigs or baldwins.
My two are the American - the black and white and the golden brown and black is the Abyssinian or Abbys.
I was planning to breed them but not right now. They are old enough at least 4 mos according to the breeders. Also you must only breed long haired to long haired and short haired to short haired
That is why I got the 2 different types of short haired to see how they would look. Maybe next month I will put them together, as of now they are in 1 cage but with a divider.
I will update whenever I breed them. I love to hear their squeaks and sometimes their purring. Not to hard to feed as long as you have grass and other leafy veggies and some fruits.
They are stress-free pets. And yes we give them baths too but not too much.

I have never had guinea pigs as pets, but I guess they are easier to care for than dogs.

Are they able to be sexed this young, or does it take awhile for you to know what you have?

It is rare to have guinea pigs as pets, most people would rather like white mice or hamster

My late father had those before and I never liked it when I was a kid.
