Mother of the Bride: 67 Days and Counting

The year leading up to what will be, for our family, the only big wedding in decades has passed by much too quickly. You would think a year's notice would be plenty of time to organize an event without any last-minute anxiety, but such has not been the case.
The venue for the reception was chosen early and booked, along with the caterer, the DJ and the cake. Whew! What is yet to be decided is where the happy couple will actually say their vows. That's right, with sixty-seven days to go, the site of the wedding itself is still up in the air.
My daughter and her fiance chose an out-of-the ordinary theme: John Deere. The wedding location and the reception will be unique, as might be expected with such a theme. Why in the world would anyone choose John Deere as a wedding theme? It has significance to the couple, with the groom-to-be from a farming family. The theme is more about the wedding colors, the bright yellow and green signature colors of the John Deere brand. Otherwise, the decor will be harvest-themed.
I have my dress for the wedding. Both mothers of the couple are wearing floor-length black dresses. Don't ask -- I didn't, I'm just following the request of my daughter. I need yet to have the dress altered, for length more than anything. I do have a plan for that. : )
Invitations are sent. I'll receive the RSVPs to take at least a little something off my daughter's list of things to do.
This is all really happening, I have to remind myself, and it's happening very soon.
In case you're wondering about the photo of the cowgirl boots? That's what the bride, groom and their wedding party will be wearing for the ceremony -- cowboy boots.

I know -- all my plans to go to the gym everyday and be a knockout by wedding day have slipped through my fingers. It is that difficulty of moving from intention to action -- that's where I have to make changes. Ah well, I will look my best. It's not my day, it is my daughter's and she will be beautiful. : )

Our daughter went with the convential church wedding but al of the girls walked barefoot. Sounds like it will be a pretty wedding

Not exactly a traditional wedding then? I am glad that organising such things is a 'girly' job. If it were up to us guys it would be a quick pint down the local pub and then off on honeymoon!

Barefoot? Now that sounds like my kind of wedding!

No, it won't be traditional in most senses, although she will wear a bridal gown and traditional vows will be said. Believe it or not, it is the groom-to-be who is holding up the decision-making about where the ceremony itself will take place.

We live smack in the middle of farm country here, so John Deere isn't that far off the mark here, either. The couple has chosen to go with casual dress for the reception so everyone can relax and enjoy the celebration.

It sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun.

Hey, I like that! Formal is out and farm is in. : )

I think it will be too, once the day arrives. It's these preparations that cause the anxiety. : )

I'm not getting married, at least not in the foreseeable future, so I don't know what "theme" my theoretical bride and I would choose for the theoretical wedding.

I almost felt I was a part of the planning team with such explicit details. I am excited for you. Do post a picture or two after the event.

Planning weddings are always so hectic. I do hope that you find a venue soon! Congratulations to the couple.
