Diego The Lovely Husky

Reading some comments from my post of last week, " Pet Adoptions And looking At Animal Shelters " I reflected on the many dogs I see walked daily on my short cul-de-sac.

Yesterday just as I was driving into our parking area, I saw a lady with a beautiful Husky and I had seen him walked here since he was a pup. His name is Diego.

I watched him grow up over the first year and now he's about 4 years old.

And I saw a new animal companion on a leash with his owner - a pink and black pig! The pig was not quite a yard in length. It was wearing a harness as opposed to a collar. After having a good poop, the owner waiting patiently with a plastic bag, it looked me straight in the eye like:

"So what are YOU looking at?"

I would love to have a small dog - and will get one the day I start working from home full time. I feel sorry for all the Shepherds, Pit Bulls, and mixed large dogs I see on the street.

Because our entire street is an apartment block. These large dogs don't ever get to run. Sad!

I miss my animals. I have been sans pets for 15 years now.

I have to enjoy pets vicariously now, too. Thankfully I have some neighbors who are only to happy to let me interact with their pets.

I agree that large dogs especially should get to run. Yet mine does not. We live right on a 4-lane highway, and there is no sidewalk even. I get to walk the dog on our property. That's not enough. But you see, I am 300 lbs, 67 years old this month, and have 2 dogs and 5 cats. It's just too much to handle. I have other things, too, that take large chunks of time, like helping raise 3 grandchildren, as well as being a full-time minister.

Many large breeds are perfectly happy as long as they get walked regularly. Many are not as hyper as you would expect, but huskies are very and take a lot of walking

In the park where I walk, a woman walks a dog that has three legs. It seems to do well enough. It's seems to be a large black lab mix. The owner said it if from the pound. It was incredibly friendly and wanted to come with me. It seems a happy dog.

I love our dog. She is running wild and free on ten acres. She hates coming inside and even though we have tried to domesticate her more and bring her in she refuses. A very warm dog house with plenty of straw in the winter is fine for her. Of course the front porch is her bedding spot the rest of the time. I love seeing pet pigs. They are awesome.

I adore huskies, they're a bit big for me though - I'll stick with my miniature Jack Russell who takes up no room at all!
